Changing of the guard....hopefully.

There didn't seem to be a whole lot of hoopla for it, as far as I could tell from watching on ESPN+

Yeah we we a little disappointed about that. They saved the actual ball and he will be presented it on senior night 3/6. Also a little disappointed that there was no mention of it on here other than This thread where I was mentioning coming to town in hopes of seeing him get the record.

I've liked JW from the get-go. Just seems like a fine young man. Whether he got the record in 1 year or 4 years, it's quite an accomplishment. Whiteside had quite the advantage heightwise, whereas JW, at 6-9, had to work extra hard to do it.

I did send congratulations in that other hread. Just been a hectic week with work, the storms and no power.

I was at both games. Me and probably 1,000 of our closest friends. I saw an official attendance of 1,083 for one of the games. Were you sitting in the section behind the bench about 10 or 15 rows back? I saw Jannson look that way after he got the record.

A lot of good players and shot blockers have played 4 years at MU that Jannson has passed over the years.

Still wish we could have seen what he and Penava could have done for one more year.

I saw that you did and thank you. we were sitting where the player tickets are. That happens to be behind the basket under the suites. We were waving the Jannson "Fat Head" around. He had his grand parents and great aunt and uncle sitting where you are talking about. He was probably looking at them. totally agree on the Peneva comment.

Just wishing that MU could petition or request that the conference would liberalize the attendance lims somewhat for our last couple of home stands. Cam seats 9,048, I believe, per the info MU puts out. 20 % of that would be about 1896, which would surely easily leave plenty of room to safely "social distance". With pandemic numbers trending "better" daily, it would seem CUSA would be proactive and flexible on such matters. Of course, as we have seen by their inaction, or snail's pace, in the rescheduling of games, no one can rightly accuse the League's leadership of being "proactive"! I note that WVU is gradually "upping" the attendance lims at the Coliseum; apparently there's no Big 12 percentage limitation of crowd sizes at league venues. They leave it up to each school, apparently!

Conference dictates attendance limits? I assumed that was a state/local/university decision?
