This was said last night on his weekly call-in show with Steve Cotton.
Steve Cotton: " I was asked to specifically bring up the RB corp and to ask you what you thought of Knowledge McDaniel who ran for 67 yards and a touchdown on Saturday seven carries and then Ethan Payne who came in late."
Huff on Knowledge: "Yea I think Knowledge has done a really good job and Knowledge has been one of the young men who has kind of fallen into the practice vortex. Umm... Knowledge did not have great practice habits when we first got here and early in camp. He has gotten better and what you saw on Saturday was a byproduct of him practicing better. The better you practice the more confidence you build in your coaching staff, them more confidence you build in the players around you, and you're going to get opportunities. I think that is what Knowledge has done. He has really learned how to practice the way we practice if that makes sense. Sometimes in high school you go out and run a play then everyone stands around for 5 to 10 minutes and you run another play. Here it's just like the game. Practice is going 100mph and there's not a lot of dead time and Knowledge has learned to practice better and this week he probably had his best week of practice he's had since he's been here. I'm really proud of his growth. I'm really proud of his buy in."
Huff on Payne: "Ethan Payne is kind of like the energizer bunny. He just goes like...he doesn't know...he's just learning college football. He's a phenomenal athlete, a phenomenal football player, but obviously he's learning college football. He's going 100mph. I've set it before he'll run through the brick wall, come back through the spot that he ran through, and ask you if he did it right. Ummm, and that's how he runs the football. He's done a really good job of learning the playbook. Umm, he's really bought in to the schematics of the game of football. You know where am I supposed to be and why? What is this run supposed to look like and why? How can I set up this run better? And I think you got a chance to see that."
Huff continued: "When we practice everybody practices. So some of those reps that Ethan and Knowledge took in August, on August the 28th when they are dead tired they were hot and they were wondering why is everyone taking reps. Those reps showed up this Saturday night. To give them confidence to practice better moving forward and that's the philosophy that we have to try and develop our entire team."
