I am getting tired of his playing not to lose play calling. We should have 30 points by now

Don't know about 30 points but relying on Nick Smith may cost us this bowl unless we can get a TD.

Sick of Legg. Time for a change. 2016 won't be what we want with this scheme and playing not to lose. WKU and MT will be better than many here think. Yeah, we won but UConn was pitiful.

I agree that UCONN is pitiful on offense, but they have a talented, highly ranked defense.

So you say "UConn was pitiful".......so that means we beat a pitiful team by a mere six points?

Guys this team is not going to open it up.
Legg was conservative early in Catos career. Why do you expect him to open the playbook for Litton now?
Doc and Legg are old school. When you have a young QB they are going to play it by the book and try to win with defense, kicking game, and running the ball.

Explains why we only have one conference title with them. Fans just need to be happy beating cupcakes and telling themselves we have a recruiting genius.

But come on, they need to trust their QB who has been pretty good at protecting the ball and making the right throws all year

We had a strong FR QB who has three more years of improvement to visit upon us. We won 10 games and a bowl over a "superior" conference team, without the only likely NFL draft prospect on our team. Not a bad year.

That defense seemed overrated and slow. If we had an OC that took advantage of weaknesses we would have blown that defense and UCONN out

Definitely. We were beating them all game long until we got inside the 30. Then the play calling killed us. Their D was overrated, for sure.

We do have a recruiting genius. He just needs to hire a good OC and let them do their thing.

Damned with faint praise. Let's fire the whole staff because the offense is stagnant.
We can't enjoy 10 wins and a bowl win before people start bitching about the staff the team or the pissers at the Joan.

Yeah, we won but if you don't think we have issues on offense, don't know what to say.
Having watched Marshall football since 1969, today's play calling would have made the '71 teams offense look like WKU.

It's not that Legg is conservative. He's just to predictable and calls damn dumb plays. He doesn't use the weapons he's has available. A change needs to be made but I'm afraid it will not happen. With an open playbook we could have easily hung 35 on them.

I would pay a king's ransom to have seen Jeff Brohm or Tony Peterson call the plays in todays game. I have no doubt that the Herd would have hung at least 40 on UConn.

Some of you guys have very short memories.

I by no means love the play calling but we did the same thing with Cato (protected him as a freshman behind a suspect o-line). And that worked out fine.

With another offseason to get bigger and stronger for Litton, and hopefully with an improved line next year, we can open it up more.

If Legg goes, fine. If he stays, okay. I'm good either way.

Litton's not a freshman anymore. He's basically a sophomore. He's had time to learn far more plays than we run. As far as having a suspect line... it shouldn't matter. Roll him out. He seems to throw better and find open receivers that way anyway. At this point, those are bad excuses. Even if you still want to stay conservative and hold back on the number of plays you run, that's no excuse for the horrible timing of the plays run.

Loved the play calling. Just decided to see who was the toughest...and Marshall won! 10-3 with a true freshy at QB? I'll take that. With out schedule getting more difficult in the coming years, we will need to display that toughness many more times. Job well done Herd!

We let UCONN decide how we'll play and actually beat them at their own game. Yeah, they sucked and yeah we should have beat them by 30, but it's hard to complain. Look out for the Herd next year, I'm confident in our ability in addition to having some games against good P5 opponents.

Seriously!? Shut up. We had a 10 win season, a bowl victory, have FR QB, etc. What more could you possibly ask for?

LOL, I guess the guys doing the commentary for the game should have just shut up too, because they couldn't figure out what the hell the "special" formations with Birdsong were about when Chase was doing just fine. Sure, it made sense to run Birdsong to get a couple tough yards, but dat passing game tho?

Remember the difference between 2011 and 2012 offensively?

I hope we see that again. May require a totally different scheme than 2012 did, but my point is, we took the reigns off Cato for his sophomore year and really changed how we ran everything. We aren't afraid to do that, based on the past.

I think the point many ITT are making is that we have an OC who should be making brilliant offensive schemes rather than depend on a QB to learn the playbook and have to improvise as Cato did. Cato made Legg look great at times, but let's not pretend it was all Legg's doing.

We didn't run anything resembling the 2011 offense in 2012. That's the year we went Oregon-speed to the line and ran a sped up version of our current offense. Teams have adjusted a bit over the years as they have more films, but my point was, we were willing to make that change then. I don't know why we wouldn't be willing to make a similar one now.

Subtracting Keion's 41-yard run from the team's 171 leaves us with 130 net yards in 40 atts for an ave.
yds per carry of 3.25.

But, YES...An ugly win is far better than a beautiful loss

Pass that everlovin' green Kool Ade down this way... I'm all in for 2016

I hate it when it stains my game-day t-shirt...so, yes I bitch about that free raining apple butter!!!

My thing is the lack of killer instinct with offensive play calling.

Heater has it with the defense. Instead of playing prevent defense he went with 4 straight blitzes on the final drive

100 percent correct. How easily people forget. We'll be back in the 40's next year.
