I went back and looked at the conference RPI of each conference we have been a part of in basketball since 1994-95 season. This is as far back as the data went. Here is what I found . Unfortunately the data ended after the 2016-17 season.

Here is my take on things. Initially when we moved to the MAC we faced a much harder conference schedule. Over time we seemed to adjust some. Playing in the So Con in the 90's with a lower RPI may explain some of our success during the Huck years. Greg White started out strong his only year in the So Conf with a 20-9 record but fell to 11-16 the first year in the MAC. Prior to our arrival in C-USA it (C-USA)had been a very strong RPI conference, but it began to slide, once we joined after the departure of UL and UC and others. The RPI during the transition from MAC to C-USA was small. I find it interesting that the RPI has continued to fall for C-USA and is now in about the same range the old So Conference was in the mid 90's, around #23. Based on the last data available it seems that the SB is about where C-USA is currently sitting at. It almost seems that we play to the level of competition but we are currently losing ground. In other words, based on RPI we should now be having more success similar to the Huck years
