Conference USA

I must have missed this: I thought we had 7 bowl tie-ins and 7 BE teams. Why didn’t So Miss get in?
There was not enough bowl games for all eligible teams. Southern Miss was eligible just didn't get picked. Miami of Ohio, ULM and Wyoming were also left out.

Don't bring that up cause there are a number on here that swear that conference is better than ours. Funny thing is they only won one bowl game last year as well.

Please try to put a little logic into your posts. What is a better measure of something - 50+ or 5?

The MAC played 50+ out of conference games. Why would anyone make a judgement on the conference's worth based on less than 10% of all of those games? See how foolish that is? When you have a far bigger sample size, use it.

On top of that, as I have gone over for years on here, trying to base a conference's worth on just bowl games is illogical. First, bowl games don't take into account all of the teams in a conference. Both C-USA and the MAC only have half of their teams playing in a bowl game. So you've already limited your judgement on looking at just half of the conference. Brilliant. On top of that, you're looking at games played between teams that finished in different spots in their conferences. You aren't looking at #1 MAC vs. #1 C-USA in a game, or #3 MAC vs. #3 Sun Belt. You're looking at match ups between #3 C-USA and #8 AAC. Again, brilliant.

But don't take my word for it. There are 110 different computer systems which rate conferences based on all games, not just 5-10 bowl games, and determine which is the better conference. Again, 110 different, independent systems.

Out of all 110 systems, only 11 of them have C-USA rated higher than the MAC this season.

The most respected ones - Sagarin, Massey, Colley, Sagarin predictor, S&P. They all have the MAC ahead of C-USA with some of them having the MAC two conferences better.

So hang your hat on results of 5 bowl games between teams of unequal conference finishes, as that is the only thing you have going for your argument.

In the end, does it really matter what G5 conference is the best? What does the best get you? Nothing. They all are just what they are, G5 conferences

In the end, does it really matter who wins C-USA? What does being the best get you? A trophy? Another G5 opponent in a bowl game just like the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place C-USA finishers get?

have you ever said anything good about Marshall? By the way C-USA has a OOC record of 27-37. MAC is 20-36. We have a better ooc record

I've said plenty good. But I will call out poor arguments regardless of the side. Want an example?

You mentioning OOC records without looking through each and every game to see the opponents. If the MAC played all 56 of their OOC games against SEC teams and C-USA played all of their OOC games against FCS schools, what would your opinion be regarding the OOC records? Exactly.

Want to know what looks at each and every game to determine those things? The computers. Want to know how many computers put C-USA ahead of the MAC? About the same number of people who think you are doing well in this discussion.

That has nothing to do with what I said but nice try with your "logic"

It was an analogy to show how foolish your comment was. What does being in the best G5 get you? It gets you more notoriety, more money, and usually more fans/bigger programs visiting. If you're going to argue that being the best G5 doesn't mean anything, then being the best team in the worst G5 also doesn't mean anything.

My comment was foolish? I have seen PLENTY of foolish things from you. And not to mention you always having a negative attitude. Hmmmmm maybe that's why they made that fancy ignore feature??? I think I will put that to good use and not have to see your crap anymore. It got old real quick.

Yes, it was foolish. Not exactly as foolish who said the other 4 Marshall players were “very gentlemanly” and representing Marshall well off of the field just because his friend saw them walk on a plane, but foolish nonetheless.

Was that too harsh for your virgin ears after capitalizing that my post had absolutely nothing to do with yours?

Oh, and don’t forget to block this name, too. Oh, and go ahead and block Dreh also, as upchuck seems to think that is me.

Bye Felicia!!! Love this ignore button.

Don’t limit the head-to-head Bowl games with MAC teams, compare the entire season. CUSA v. MAC. That will tell the truth as to conference rankings.

Ahhhhhhhh.......just ignored YAGS and Daveloves cock. Going to be a very enjoyable holiday! Good tidings to all, especially our classy Marshall athletes! What’s that Ryan? That’s what’s I thought - the ultimate Grinch....

Does that mean you are going to stop your weekly Googling of me?

Bye Felicia!!! .

You're a middle-aged white guy. Please stop saying that . . . or at least don't wear Marshall gear when saying it.

Yeah, those two MAC vs. C-USA regular season games sure tell the whole story.

Ignoring the multiple names of the one and only troll on this board makes this board so much better. If everyone would ignore this mental case, it would eventually go away and bother other people. Do not feed the troll.

As to CUSA vs. MAC, no comparison. CUSA light years better.

good point. he lost his mind when the guys over at herdfans typically ignored him, well when they weren't laughing at him.

He just craves attention, that’s all. Negative, positive, doesn’t matter. Kinda feel sorry for him? But he is super annoying. Feels better now that he is invisible.....

That's special coming from one of the three guys on here who chases me around from thread to thread. One of the others is the moron who posted right above you who begs for attention from anyone on this board and almost always fails.

And "super annoying?" Aren't you in your sixties or seventies, upchuck? What kind of 70 year old male goes around saying things like "super annoying"?

100% better. Without the troll, this board is a thoughtful group of people with a common interest. We exchange information and discuss our common interest, not always agreeing, but generally always being agreeable. Which is what a board, on any subject, is supposed to be.

Unlike most trolls, who generally have some political or religious axe to grind, this troll seems to have an active mental problem. So much better without it.

Well, CUSA is 24-12 against the MAC since the 2013 realignment. CUSA east is 21-9 against the MAC. Take start up Charlotte out of the mix and the other 5 east teams are 21-6.

But yeah, the MAC has shown they are better on the field.

Edit - CUSA was 4-0 against the MAC this year.

It's because I made it a habit of abusing you for your frequently incorrect attempts at facts. It's why others have done the same thing, and why many of my posts correcting your fallacies get liked.

Is this what you mean by "always being agreeable"?

Of was it this?

Shut up!
.

Or perhaps this?

Translation. I don't like the true things you say, so I called you a girl.

What a sad life you must have. So fixated.

This one?

Just GO AWAY!

Oh, and these weren't all comments from you towards me, but examples of how you are "always agreeable" towards others.

Let me help you out. First, if Ohio Herd liked your post, you can be pretty assured that your post is asinine.

This first link of yours? Yeah, it's a ranking of the conferences for 2018 BEFORE the season started. It's a prediction. You realize this conversation is about which of the two conferences (MAC vs. C-USA) was better on the field in 2018, right?

Congratulations. You have found one of the 10 out of 110 that has C-USA barely ranked ahead of C-USA. I'm guessing you want to ignore the 90%+ that have the MAC ranked ahead of C-USA this year, right?

Try to keep up. This discussion isn't about which conference has been historically better. It's not about what has the better brand which consists of attendance, television ratings, budgets, etc. It is simply about which conference was better on the field this season. As I have mentioned, out of 110 systems, C-USA is only ahead in 10 of them.

Edit - CUSA was 4-0 against the MAC this year.

Didn't we just go over this?

Wha't's with the hostility? I also have NO idea who "Ohio Herd" is. Actually, I know exactly what I posted. It was a couple of predictions, then a end of the year standing. In being in C-USA, you can only play the teams on your schedule. This will be the same unless they change conferences. Marshall can win the conference and this argument will still be the same.
I decided to join Herd Nation to see how the fans are towards Marshall and because my son decided to commit to play college football here. He had options, but felt that Marshall was a very special place. We visited schools in the P5, but there is something special about this place.

The fans are great, small minority of fans are on the message boards, some are big time supporters of the program and some are here just to bash. I wouldn’t use anything on a message board as a basis for the fans interaction with players—-Huntington and the Herd faithful embrace MU football players like relatives.

Agreed! I love coming on here to talk with other Herd fans and having good conversations about our sports teams and student athletes. The rare ones who will belittle your input and have constant negativity you can just hit the ignore button on (it's great!)

There was no hostility towards you. I simply pointed out that your two links were predictions of the 2018 season and had nothing to do with what was being discussed: which conference was actually better on the field for 2018.

And no, if Marshall won C-USA there wouldn't be any complaints. Those are Marshall's peer schools, almost all of which Marshall has an advantage in with football, yet Marshall has won the conference once in a decade. That's the complaint.

Most people come here for reasonable discussion on Herd sports. It's hard to have "reasonable" discussion when idiots make comments that it doesn't matter which G5 is the best conference. As I said, that would be like arguing it doesn't matter which team is the best in a G5 conference. Ridiculous.

I don't know if anybody remembers Duck Eggs/Walden Pond from back in the day, but this is starting to have the same feel. This isn't trolling, this is somebody going through a rough spot in their life.

Says the guy who makes foolish post, then when the post is called out for lacking logic, claims that he was just keeping the balloon afloat.

Welcome to herd nation. Glad to have your son on the big green bus. Most of us in here are big herd fans. Sometimes we fuss at one another but have each other's back on gameday.of course there are a few on here who attack anything positive but you will figure that out quickly if you post positive posts on here like you just did.
