Very true this war on coal has been going on since the early 70's.Power plants have come a long way in cleaning up the emissions going up the stack over the years.I have no problem with that,we all want clean air and clean water.What I do have a problem with is when our own government changed the rules of the game to favor solar and wind plus gave them tax credits at the taxpayers expense.I don't recall natural gas or coal getting any tax credits.Maybe they did but I don't remember any.I could go on and on with insider information that the public never hears but I won't.I'll leave you with this as West Virginians you should be very proud of the part that all the miners and families played in making America great.Without that thermal and met coal from WV there is no way this country could have become the great world power we are today.Coal led the way!

huh? coal has received billions upon billions of subsidies over the years. just from 2002-2008 fossil fuels received $72b in subsidies from the feds.

How would you feel if they said no more trees to be cut and everything goes plastic or some made made material? Or they limited it so much the cost of lumber was so high that people couldn't afford wood cabinets and went to plastic or something. And, you have benefited from electric produced by coal as much as anybody else has.
Just wait, the liberals will come out against nuclear power(they already have). They will come out against wind farms. Not in my backyard! And solar is next. Look at the ugly solar farms.

Of course I wouldn't like it. I'm not asking anyone else to like the fact that burning coal is terrible for air quality. But here's the deal, if you give me a 40 year heads up that regulations are going to make it unwieldy for me to build cabinets with wood, I'm going to be looking at making cabinets from another material.
If conservatives had their way with air quality, we couldn't be able to see our hands at arms distance.
What steel plant???? Steel plants are too dirty and our capacity to make large amounts of it are decades gone. If you actually wanted to open a new steel plant in this country, you wouldn't be permitted to do it.
My point is these socialist would rather live in a completely decimated economic existence, where the govt bureaucrat prospers by promising guaranteed equality, but only delivers abundant misery.......all to save a tree or squirrel. Another Andrew Carnegie simply wouldn't be allowed to exist even if it was needed to rebuild our country from the ash heap.
