Dude was a beast.Great player. Always enjoyed watching his highlights.
His draft class had 5 future HOFers who had careers or 7, 9, 12, 13 and 13 years.I wonder what was the average career length for hall of famers during his playing days. I was shocked that he only played 9 seasons.
You can be the one to tell Butkus he has to sit for 6 weeks.I remember reading that his and Gale Sayers knee injuries were the kind that today would have them out for 4-6 weeks.
How did you fare during the stock market crash of 1929?Saw Dick Butkus in Ohio Stadium in 1964. He was a two way player for Illinois, OL and LB. I remember the game finishing in a tie but I’m not certain.
Good info, thanks! His draft class had 5 future HOFers who had careers or 7, 9, 12, 13 and 13 years.
The next class had 2 HOFers with careers of 12 and 12 years.
The previous class had 10 (!!!) with careers of 9, 15, 12, 13, 14, 15, 10, 10, 11, 10 years. Plus a future coach but he didn’t actually play.
So 9 was on the short end of a HOF career but not totally abnormal.
Not good. I jumped off a building ledge and missed the ground. How did you fare during the stock market crash of 1929?
