Do we miss A Mirabal?

Running lanes sucked under mirabal too. Johnson was just big enough to overcome it when he played.

The several were right.

Then our RBs must be garbage then. It has to be one or the other. Either the OL can't open and sustain running lanes or our RBs suck and can't find/hit those holes. This is two straight games, one being against a garbage FCS team, that neither RB could get 50 yards. Our running game is horrible and there is no way you can say it's not. All those that experience on the line and in the backfield and 104 yards per game which is good for 118 out of 129 teams.

There is no excuse for the lack of production in the run game.

With a veteran line, holes should be there, but I only seen it sporadically against Miami, haven't seen one open up much since, most of the time our backs are getting hit just behind the line of scrimmage. Maybe its the adjusting to what cramsey wants, or maybe they were only good at pass protection. They not much good at either right now, so I have to believe they are still adjusting to cramsey.

Then perhaps we can continue to agree to disagree?

Weren't you the individual who's son was or still is an OL for Marshall? Wouldn't you admit that would cause one to be at least a little biased in this regard?

I was responding to your comment on this post:

Not defending every Mirabal OL, but when Rock was here we had a damn good line. Rock didn't have anything to overcome.

Everybody refers to this OL as veteran but the truth is it's still very young. Three are just sophomores, and one of those is playing hurt.

This young line has a season under its belt....for the 3 sophomores, they learned pass protection last year and learned it well, they have had all off season to learn run blocking, so one has to guess they either aren't receiving good coaching or still in the learning phase of when to pull etc under cramsey. I'm not trying to bad mouth any player on our herd, something is off though.

Yes and no. Yes, my son was on that line when Rock was here. And no, I'm not being biased.

My son is also on this OL and I'm saying that the previous OL was better. Some of that has to do with the experience. Selby, Van Horne, and Sweede were battle-tested. My son was just a freshman, but he was surrounded by good players who made him better.

Most of the difference has to do with nasty. Those veteran OL I mentioned were out for blood every play. It was infectious. That season, Jordan was a beast, despite playing with a few ruptured discs in his back. My son played with an intensity then he has never been able to recapture.

By nature, this group of OL are just good kids. I call it the N-word for an OL. They're all NICE. Just speaking of Jordan, he was more than ready to follow along when we had a group of nasty leaders kicking ass and taking names. It just isn't his nature to lead that way. He is more of a cerebral leader, and he does a great job teaching and encouraging the line. But we don't have an OL with any of that nasty to him, and we miss that.

That is worrisome.....you can teach technique but you can’t teach Nasty!

Which makes no sense. Every player wants to do their best, and some positions like the OL it means you have to be aggressive, wanting that pancake, wanting to knock your guy 5 yards backwards. Do they want it? If they do, they better get a mean streak in them. I remember when the DE was the one's always praised for having that mean streak, when in reality, the OT that was blocking him had to be meaner just to block him.........

If it is not coaching ,what is it? Did our running backs all of a sudden become bums,as last year they were very very good.
