I had dupuytren surgery on my right hand in early November, so 9 months ago. I had the same surgery on my left hand 20 years ago. For those that don’t know what that involves, they basically cut you from the second joint on the affected finger to your wrist in a zig zag pattern so they can spread the hand and clean out the problem.
The one 20 years ago was really no big deal, you wear a splint for four months, do hand exercises, and I had full use right after that. This one is way different, same routine plus I did physical therapy this time around. Nine months out and still haven’t recovered more than 70% of my hand strength and flexibility.
Point is, the body just doesn’t heal the same way when you get older, but you are young enough to get past this, rifle. Just don’t do it again when you’re 60.
