Doc Weighs In On The Current Situation

he had to comment. It had been all over Twitter that the staff was very upset that some of the players had attended the event in Huntington.
It was well written, just the way I assume that Chuck McGill wrote it. We have all heard Doc speak, do you really believe he would have written that? I would assume that he made his comments to Chuck or the SID and they actually wrote the statement. That is quite all right since that is what SID and school publicist are supposed to do

Translation:

"I just can't accept that our head coach, can actually be a well thought and well written human being."

His staff was upset at the players attending the march because they begin workouts this week and were likely told to avoid large gatherings of people. A single case of COVID-19 can throw the entire planning and operation of the program off so they being upset can be justified.

Perhaps the march was a higher priority than football.

HERDALICIOUS RELEASES STATEMENT ON GEORGE FLOYD:

"I feel tremendous sympathy for George Floyd, his family, and anyone who suffers from social injustice, anywhere. I adamantly oppose racism and inequality in any form, and will strive every day to eliminate it from this world. The time has come for all Americans to come together, unify, stand as one, collaborate, unite, be monolithic, join together, and unify. Social injustice of all kinds must end, and I am committed to bringing that about. Now please make sure that I am correctly placed in the "Not Racist" pile."

Perhaps the health of the entire AD could match the importance of the march.
Did you suddenly forget there's still a pandemic and safety measures that MUST be adhered to?

This isn’t about me forgetting anything. I don’t pretend to know the experiences and feelings of 18-19 year old black men.

and now we have 2 cases among the football team. Obviously contracted prior to getting on campus

There are more important things in college and in life than tying for another second place finish in C-USA East.

If what has been stated in this thread is true, then fvck Doc once again.

I agree. The health of yourself and those around you are quite important.
This isn't something new to them. The rules and requirements have been made pretty clear and that doesn't include what they were told in person.

I guess it would be fine to risk exposure doing what everyone said you weren't supposed to do.
But that would make Trump and the deplorables right all along about COVID-19 not being as big a deal as other things.

Yeah, going to protest against murder centered around racism in an open air environment is bad.

Flying in an enclosed contraption with a hundred others so you can fight for a second place C-USA East banner is good.

You didn't have to prove your lack of intelligence by supporting Humpty, but you did it regardless.

Yeah, you being the epitome of White Privilege may want to sit this one out bud. Go grow some hair or something.

So, as I understand it, this plague is so important that we adopted all this "social distance" ho-ha and we voluntarily destroyed the economy, drove our great-grandchildren into federal debt, increased the money in circulation via "stimulus" and double-bonus unemployment which will cause inflation and wipe out the value of savings and retirements, watched the booming stock market crash, and tossed a third of the country out of work.

But not so important that we should as some 20 year old kids to refrain from some mass gathering so they can inform us of their all important 20 year old opinions on complex subjects by being in close contact with total strangers.

Got it..

Look, its a damned if you damned if you don't situation.
On one hand, you have a global pandemic that has been able to take out entities like pro/college sports to such an extent that some are financially affected in long term. That says something to the magnitude/extent of the effect of said virus.
People on here have debated about it.

On the other hand you have what is essentially a murder on camera that really shows the blatant disregard for human life and abuse of power the police have had for decades. Specifically on black men in America. It has made a justifiable reason to go out and march in civil protest.

But you still have this virus and safety protocol (which is why many wore masks) to follow.
MU and NCAA programs around the country had a set of strict guidelines to follow to address the virus since it was still a major concern.
Nobody could have predicted what happened to Mr. Floyd or any sort of incident like it, would have sparked the justified outrage.
I doubt the NCAA COVID-19 guidelines had, "Civilian protests relating to police abuse of power and what to do."
Given what Doc has said about the current situation in America involving the need for unity and change, I doubt he is against the protests.
Given the existing situation with COVID-19, I believe Doc was concerned for the health of the players.

I am as conservative as can be and rifle and I have debate after debate for years. Those debates include things such as race, social issues, poltic, etc.

In this case, I agree with rifle. Those young men had every right to participate in peaceful protest if they wanted to. If that puts off their quarantine for a few days, then so be it. I hope the football coaching staff didn't hold that against them nor get upset about it. They have a right as an American to protest in a peaceful and lawful way and the football coaching staff should allow them that opportunity.

I'm merely presenting a potential answer to why their actions would be objected to.

Is it a known fact that the 2 infections were football players? Do we know how they contracted it? Doc's statement is about the state of the union, not covid. Why are we co-mingling the 2 in this thread?

They won't release names and probably not the sports they play either.

Umm, people have rights to do millions of things. But, for the last two months we have all been told to not gather together because is will spread a deadly plague. BUT apparently making a meaningless gesture at some "protest" is exempt?

You cannot have it both ways. Either the recent COVID measures apply to everyone, no matter their politics, or they are over-kill and should be abandoned.

Oh, I agree with you there also. The whole Covid thing is BS also.

Yeah, total BS. I mean, only 15 people have it, and it will be down to just one soon. I mean, it will just disappear overnight sometime soon. I mean, it's a liberal hoax. I mean, if we keep it to 100K - 200K deaths, then the administration did an amazing job controlling it.

Remember to spout those lines, sheep, and then try explaining how he could have made such a drastic change within six weeks. Then, after you're done looking foolish trying to defend those claims, explain how something that killed 100K (and still counting) in three months in this country WHILE shutting the country down is "BS."

That is the thanks I get for defending you just a few posts ago and defending the rights of peaceful protest.

At some point we have to move on with life and it is amazing that now folks can go have protest and even in some cases riots but just days ago the government(s) were telling us not to gather . But, now is suddenly ok.

The moron governor of NC is saying it dangerous for a sports bar to open or for the RNC to have a convention in one his cities(who just lost 50 million bucks by the way) but the moron governor is out maching with protestors on the streets where they destroyed local businesses. A few days ago he was talking about how dangerous the China virus is. No agenda there hugggh.

Go have a peaceful protest but don't feed us the bull shit about the China Virus being dangerous.

Well, guess we'll know in a few weeks as to whether these widespread demonstrations across the nation in the out of doors with many participants wearing masks result in a spike in the number of new cases! Whether there is an increase in the number of cases among MU athletes resulting from the fact that some of them participated in a relatively "smaller" demonstration in Huntington seems highly unlikely.

Well for someone who went hook line and sinker for the collusion investigation, I wouldn’t be calling other people sheep .And remember, Durham knows!
