Drones

I haven't, but my brother has. He loves it. I'm thinking of trying it.

A good friend of mine has an expensive one. It has night vision and heat sensor. Lives on a huge farm and watches deer, turkey or whatever for fun. Pretty cool.

No not those Jersey ones.

Do any of you guys dabble in the hobby? Santa I think is bringing me one and I hope to take videos of the lakes and rivers I travel to but I will literally be teaching myself.
They're pretty fun but the novelty can wear off kind of quick unless you're using it for a purpose. Practice with it (a lot) if you're gonna be using it primarily over water AND make sure you know how it communicates back to the controller.

Go ahead & buy a few extra propellers & an extra battery pack.

***Also, don't practice flying it around kids. And it has nothing to do with their safety. They will damn near attack you wanting the controller.

Most will automatically go back to its home base when the battery is running low. Another feature that will follow you around when walking or riding a bike. They will also avoid hitting anything.

I also agree with SamSwimmer. The novelty can wear off and will be there just to collect dust.

Wonder if they have any that will launch missiles at deer? I hate them because they eat my shrubbery.

That is the hope to have it following me during kayak trips or on the boat.

The ultimate purpose is for YouTube videos.

We had a cheap Amazon one years ago my son and I played around with. It did not have any auto fly or track features.

I strongly echo the sentiment of practicing alone first without kids in a big open field or football stadium. It takes some getting used to.
