Emerald Coast, Miramar

Take 98 for about ten minutes, then hop on highway 30A as soon as it starts. Drive through and to Seacrest, Alys Beach, and Rosemary Beach. It’s about a 40 minute drive, but the views and stopping in those little places on the water make it well worth the trip.

Alys Beach is a different world.
Normally, I would be all for this, but Otis will end up in jail if he drives this route. Too many pedestrians and bicyclists that the drunk MF will end up running over.

leaving Sat for flight down out of pickets to tittsburg. have taken note of much of the info shared ITT for which i'm greatly appreciative. @big_country90 @Dreh_Nagi_HC_IM @HerdBuckeye @Raoul Duke MU @Y.A.G Si Ye Nots

@Raoul Duke MU check your weather maps and tell me how shitty of a time i'm going to have because of hurricane/storm/etc. 10 day weather channel shows 2 mostly sunny days, rest mostly cloudy.

idgaf, going to have a great time, rain or shine. may put a damper on the fishing trip i haven't bought yet, doe.

Don’t forget McGuire’s. And absolutely, positively get the steak. Have fun!

I second McGuire's. It's really popular with locals and visitors. The steaks are some of the best I've had. You should get some good weather after the storm rolls through. We're only supposed to get some rain in this area but it will probably be pretty wet this weekend. If you're like most people that visit and want seafood, check out Boshamps, The Back Porch or Dewey's (Crab Island location).

Also listen to country and go to McGuire's. That is the one touristy place that I have no hesitation recommending. Don't get the burgers though...there are better places for a burger in the area. Go over into Fort Walton Beach and try The Cowhead. The best seafood on the water is Dewey Destin...not the one on the Harbor.
screwed up last evening and went to Dewey's on the harbor. The one you indicated is called "harborside" (which is why I went to the other one. Once there I knew we were at wrong place but we decided to try it anyhow), the one on the harbor is called something else, can't remember. Anyhoo, good recommendation to NOT hit that one. Food was horrible. Menu was limited to mostly fried seafood (not a fan). I had fried scallops shrimp, son had fried oysters (he typically loves those), daughter had king crab legs, wife had crab cakes. Fried food was under cooked for most part, 2 small clusters of crab legs for $35, cakes were ok. Overall, shitty food, def would never recommend nor go back. Might hit the one you recommended later in week but an online menu would be a great find beforehand. Too many seafood places for a shitty experience.

McGuire's is up next.

Oh, the storm claimed 2 lives in front of our condo last evening. Assume rip tides got them. 13 y.o. kid and his dad is the word. Pretty heart wrenching. Wasn't allowed in water yesterday then again today up until a couple hours ago. Pretty sad.

Man, you need to find a seafood shack ran by black people. I know that might not be possible in Destin lol.

Rip currents are a bitch. Did they get in when the water was officially closed? I did that once at Mrytle when I was younger and in decent shape, I ended up a mile down from my hotel. Obviously not a rip, but same idea in that it was not smart of me. Last time I ever got in the water with double red flags up.

Remember, swim parallel to the shore to get out of a rip.

Yeah, the original Dewey's is the one that looks out over Crab Island. That said, if you want good seafood that is not all fried, try Boshamps. It's more $ but it's excellent. I'll be really surprised if you aren't happy with McGuire's.

Also, I haven't lived here long but I'm amazed by how much people ignore the flags. They have had double reds out since Thursday of last week making it illegal to even get in the water. People getting in the water right now are putting their lives and the lives of others in danger. That said, looks like better conditions will be here soon.
