So I’m hearing Thomson is throwing now? Is Green looking like the hands down starter? ( if so how has he looked?) For the people who’ve seen them practice this spring should we optimistic or are we looking overrated? The defense seems stacked. I’m just hoping the offense has a QB who can get them up and down the field, I like King but if its all focus on the run game I’ve seen that played out in the past. Thanks for any info! GO HERD!!

It’s funny - For me, normally the memories of “do you remember where you were when: Kennedy was shot; Neil & Buzz hopped around on the moon; Challenger disaster. Normally not sports memories where I don’t have a dog in the fight. Buckner’s miscue stands out - wife & I had taken a weekend on the DelMarVa in Cape Charles. Stayed up late to watch the game. Sox would have won it with a victory that night? Anyway, I watch and the collective omg moment happens. The next morning we went down for breakfast, & it was all you could hear anyone in there talking about! I guess for recent Herd history, it has to be the wvu debacle in ‘11.
What was the topic? Oh yeah, QB sitrep. I’m all Eers......

Buckner got the raw end of the deal on that one. It was a tie game when the error happened. The Red Sox had a 5-3 lead in the 10th inning and had numerous batters where they were one strike away from winning. They had two outs and nobody on base and couldn't finish it. Everyone thought the series was over including the television broadcast which announced that Marty Barrott, the Red Sox's infielder, was the player of the game.

The Mets tied it on a wild pitch (which should have been ruled a passed ball). The blame for that game was far more on the pitcher (I can't remember who relieved Calvin Schiraldi) and Rich Gedman for allowing the game to get tied instead of Buckner.

Both the AL and NL championship series were also amazing. The Red Sox were one strike away from losing that series until Dave Henderson hit a homerun off of Donnie Moore (who ended up committing suicide just a few years later). Henderson then hit the go ahead homerun that could have led the Red Sox to win the World Series.

Both Green and Thomson have been throwing. Green has thrown more and has gotten more time with the 1s. Take that for whatever it is worth.

Are we overrated? Depends on how good you think we'll be, I suppose. If you think we're running the table and getting the G5 NY6 slot, then yes we're probably overrated. If you think we're a bowl team with a decent chance to win CUSA East then you probably will be satisfied with the season.

Chris thanks for the information. I believe the Miami game will be a big test for our season for sure. If we could win the east I’d be satisfied and a W on either USC Or NC State would just be icing on the cake. I’ll be in Columbia this year excited for the SEC atmosphere! GO HERD

Miami will be a huge test. They are putting everything into this game with the Herd. Homecoming, etc. This game is a "tight fit" as Sonny would say.
