First off act like you can talk decently and no namecalling. Okay you were partly right about jobs shutting down around 85 and 86. I worked at the biggest best mining job east of the mississippi river at Martiki. 460 employees. My dad attemped to organize the job. Stood at the foot of the hill and passed out union cards. Even met with union officials. The man who is the president of the union now worked side by side with dad. It was 290 to 160 against. Company told the men we had a job until 2020. 93 days later the laid off. But about 6 months later they hired outside contractors and hired back a few sucks from the martili employees. The job downsized to cheaper labor and no insurance. Exactly what dad said. Marrowbone and martin county coal did the same thing. At the same time small jobs popped up everywhere. I figured if I worked 60 to 70 hrs a week i almost made the same money. I went from 52000 in 85 to 38,000 in 86. I .I worked the next 24 yrs going from company to company. In 2010 that stopped. Nobody could get a job. If you got a job it might be on a 6 month permit. Hillary bragged she would shut down coal along with Obama's behind the door meetings with the NEW epa.The amount of pollution put into the air was at an alltime low. I live 8 miles from the ex power plant and we all read weekly on how much cleaner they were burning the car. Didnt matter. The goverment was hell bent on shutting down coal and to their credit they did. Then along came trump and thats the rest of the story. Coal went downhill completely. Obama won that battle. Coal miners- Who I see as the greatest working bunch of men in america lost. Not just miners. Motels, gas stations, resturants, part stores and mining equipment sales and many others didnt have the daily flock of miners going and coming. We all stopoed going and coming from work to gas stations and places to eat. All those places gone. It messed up most of southern wv and eastern ky of those involved with coal in any way. Right now i know 2 miners working. How long would it take for trump to pick the coal business up again. Probably as long as it took for obama to destroy it. 2 years. Have a good day EG
