I am on the fence about the Taggart hire but those in the know down here are ecstatic citing his enthusiasm, recruiting prowess (Willie had the #7 class at Oregon and Jimbo the #43 class at FSU), and reclamation projects at WKU and USF. We could tell here for awhile that Jimbo's heart wasn't in it anymore, many believing his divorce as the beginning of his downhill slide. There is apparently no love loss between him and the Administration, either. I don't think Jimbo will have the success at aTm that he had here. Gonna be tough going in the $EC West with annual match-ups Bama, Auburn, and LSU.

Does the Cristobal promotion mean Mirabal's phone will be ringing?

I love the Nebraska, UCLA and Arkansas hires. Taggart is a very good coach.

I'm confused by the Arizona State hire.

Don't love Taggart at FSU.. FSU will improve. Taggart is a good one. FSU will improve quickl. Brohmn turned down the vols

Think the Mullen at UF hire is overrated.

He can recruit, but makes Doc look like a genius in the Xs and Os. He will be fine in recruiting but will need good coordinators to not make FSU a mediocre program.

It certainly could as we only got Mirabal at MU after Cristobal was fired at FIU, and I believe they are still good friends.

I said before the hire that taggart was the best among those looked at. Well I have followed taggart since wku because one friend of mine knows him well. He is an old school coach with a modern day mind on passing. He will kill it at florida state. Gg mike i think any team who gets him will become a much better team. He is a great coach

Arizona State
(Todd Graham fired | hired Herm Edwards)

Edwards reminds me of an Amway salesman. While you are listening, it almost makes sense, then you think about it for a second and realize it is all BS. Sad to say, he reminds me of our basketball coach. All rah-rah and work harder and motivational slogans and so on. And 15-15, 6th in the league, no post-season. Again.

Arkansas
(Bret Bielema fired | hired Chad Morris)

Another victim of Saban. Everybody in the SEC, especially the west, has unrealistic expectations.

Central Florida
(Scott Frost resigned | hired Josh Heupel)

THE AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! A mid-major stepping stone program where you can only go so far. Just like the other four mid-major leagues. Main difference is the complete and total indifference of the local populace to the whole endeavor.

Florida
(Jim McElwain fired | hired Dan Mullen)

See Arkansas, above. But really Florida should do better.

Florida State
(Jimbo Fisher resigned | hired Willie Taggart)

The administration changed and Fisher had a bad divorce and wanted to move on.

Georgia Southern
(Tyson Summers fired | hired Chad Lunsford)

No one cares.

Kent State
(Paul Haynes fired | vacant)

No one cares.

Louisiana-Lafayette
(Mark Hudspeth fired | vacant)

A couple 1000 people in the swamps of SW Louisiana care.

Mississippi
(Hugh Freeze fired | hired Matt Luke)

Should have got the death penalty. Probably did on a de facto basis, wont contend for years.

Mississippi State
(Dan Mullen resigned | hired Joe Moorhead)

Out of the 14 schools in the Greatest Conference, there are a couple where it may not be possible to win it all. MSU is probably one of them. Did all he could do there, moving up.

Nebraska
(Mike Riley fired | hired Scott Frost)

Nebraska fans are, of course, delusional, firing coach after coach for not being Tom Osborne. Nebraska, the smallest state with a P5 program except WV (and that hardly counts) is lucky to have major college football at all.

Oregon
(Willie Taggart resigned | hired Mario Cristobal)

Great hire, but wrong side of the country for his skill set.

Oregon State
(Gary Andersen resigned | hired Jonathan Smith)

No one cares.

Rice
(David Bailiff fired | hired Mike Bloomgren)

No one cares.

South Alabama
(Joey Jones resigned | hired Steve Campbell)

After Alabama and Auburn soak up 99.99% of the attention, the G5 schools down there fight for which will be first in the agate type section of the newspaper.

Southern Methodist
(Chad Morris resigned | vacant)

Who cares.

Tennessee
(Butch Jones fired | hired Jeremy Pruitt)

Train wreck as we all know. But pretty good hire. IF Fat Phil Fulmer can stay out of the way and let the coach coach. No reason Tennessee cannot be great again.

Texas A&M
(Kevin Sumlin fired | hired Jimbo Fisher)

TAMU, the most profitable college sports program in the nation, has everything. Except a championship in any sport that matters. They have a huge and scary loyal fanbase. They have tried this over and over. Never works.

Texas-El Paso
(Sean Kugler fired | hired Dana Dimel)

UTEP will never be anything, especially if it remains excluded for the MWC and rather in one with teams in Virginia and Florida.

UCLA
(Jim Mora fired | hired Chip Kelly)

UCLA is another huge program with lots of fans, and has nothing to show for it. Kelly will do OK, but just OK. That is all UCLA ever is, just OK

Taggart has to get by Miami and Florida every year. Florida will come back. Miami is getting back even though Richt is good for a loss or two every year. Then, the ACC has improved and Dabo and Clemson are way ahead of everyone right now.

I give Taggart 4 years and this will be like hiring Charlie Strong at Texas. he only gets 4 years because of one reason.

Why would Florida F'ing State hire a guy with a losing record?

One because he is one of the very best. Old school herdman. Alot of his losses probably were his first year with south florida and maybe wku not sure. I have followed him closely since he left wku. I have close friends who are tight with taggard and have predicted his every promotion. WKU, South Florida, Oregon and now florida state in that order.

And what is the reason that Taggert gets 4 years? He's an outstanding coach. As Sistersville pointed out his losses came in turnaround years at WKU and USF. He left both places in far better shape than he found them and I would bet the Bobby Petrino and Charlie Strong would attest to that.

The craziness of all this...the FIRED guys will be recycled and hired at another school (in time) and receive a handsome raise.......College coaching salaries are OUT OF CONTROL.....

Taggard was never fired. He was begged by these schools to change their programs im right. Looking at a future coach of the year

Pump the brakes a little. I know you're tight with Slick Willie but the guy has never even won a conference championship and has lost at least five regular season games in seven of the eight years he's been a HC.

. How many different schools have wanted him. Oregon Tenn and now florida state. Florida state agreed with me. You like aaron perkins and hate everything not marshall?

He's a greater recruiter but is a below average HC. He'll bring in the recruits but they won't meet their potential with him as HC.
