First step towards a Baseball Stadium?

Yup. No one cares. It'll be decent for a while, then die off.

If you build it (and win) they will come! I am thinking it will take years to get this going as the wheels of the Feds cleaning up the ground will be turning very slow.

Just saying... I have been here and have attempted to do this in the not so distant past... There are those in our community that have been working on this public private partnering arrangement for years... And trust me... There is alot of local politics involved that have stopped this process everytime... Hopefully Mayor Williams has the chops to move this project forward...

I think he will.

Huntington needs to change and update itself. A baseball field and newly acquired land for real estate, business, and Marshall development can only make things better later on.

I do hope those old bastards who kept the city down realize that the mistake was made and will follow through with supporting it...if not, well then they'll die soon anyway.

Huntington desperately needs a nice hotel and conference center, and that land would be a perfect location.

I honestly think we're on the cusp of a major renaissance in the area, and I'm looking to put my money where my mouth is in anticipation. I think in 10-12 years the east end to Marshall corridor will be completely revamped. ACF will be torn down and we'll see the construction of a baseball stadium, a nice upscale hotel and conference center, retail, restaurants and new residential construction. ACF takes up a massive footprint. With CHH buying St. Mary's, I look for the full transition of CHH/StM to MU Medical Center in the next 10 years as well. And the SOM is increasing its residency options at a decent clip as well. So the growth along Hal Greer with MU SOM/CHH will likely occur down 3rd Ave toward Marshall as well.

I like Steel of WV...but I can't stand where it is located...it's in the real prime area for ANYTHING but that.

I do wish Huntington would relocate its industrial buildings into one area, somewhere kind of isolated from everywhere else...

But oh well...

I agree that this will impact Marshall's growth as well as the city's.

I think the field would located between 3rd and 5th Avenue's with the retail, hotel development where the current ACF factory is and moving towards the river.

At one point the Hotel and Baseball Field were to be located between 5th and 3rd... Why, you may ask? It had to do with that site being more suitable for this type of commerical development that could lead to revenue generation as the old ACF site was torn down and remediated... I believe it has to be a phased approached...
It will be interesting to see how this project will develop going forward...
