For those that don't like Grant as our QB.

Is that your argument now??? Wells has to be an offensive MVP in order to justify his efficacy?

I’ve stayed clearly he’s the most inconsistent player on offense as far as skill players go. I’ll stand by that based off his stats, decision making, etc. You’ve argued every single point but won’t answer this simple question. Is he your mvp through 3 games yes or no? If so why? I’m saying Ali, clearly

It's gotten so bad with Marshall football, that fans are bitching now about the # rushing TDs instead of passing TDs inside the 20yd line and asserting the QB must be the offenses "MVP" after 3 games or he sucks.
Edited my assertion based on current fan metrics.

We have bigger issues on this squad. Such as a swiss cheese secondary. Atrocious. App may have a field day. WKU certainly will if we don't get better.

Why should our swiss cheese defense matter? we've got the gunslinger back there and he can throw for 500 yards! won't get us in the endzone but, that doesn't matter.

Because if our DB’s could cover the ECU receivers and actually knew where the ball was, we would have won. Grant didn’t lose the game for us, not close. The DB’s and our crack Hands team did.

Why are you so upset in some pointing out the fallacy of your argument that you would make up more ignorant hyperboles? We've already shown you and others we are getting "in the endzone" to the tune of ~43+ points per game. Would 55....60.....no, 75 make you happy?

Points to ponder:
*When you get inside the red zone it's a little tougher to throw the ball into the end zone for a TD. Hence, run it in.
*Wells is putting up pretty good passing totals.
*Everybody is putting it all on Wells. Tell me, who handles the ball on offense more than Wells? Answer: Nobody.
*Wells didn't lose the ECU game. He put up enough points to win it. Talk to the defense about that one.

I didn’t realize that 500 yards was hyperbole. I thought wells had the cannon and could do whatever he wanted.
Again… I never said wells was bad, just that he’s not above criticism and he’s not what some are making him out to be.
And what would make me happy is a QB I was confident could lead a game winning drive.

soooooooo…..let’s see. # of games this season where Grant had an opportunity to lead a game-winning drive: 1
Current record: 0-1
# of chances left this season: 9

If you care so much, come on to the score prediction thread & opine your guess. I’m sure you will predict a loss for the Herd, but by how much? I mean, our QB sucks, so we have zero chance…..do I have it about right?

You cant stop with your ignorance. Link us to where anyone claimed he could do whatever he wanted? I thought yds per game was not the metric we should look at when considering efficacy? Now 500 yds passing a game is good enough for you?? 600 yds offense a game was a stat we were supposed to ignore just a couple hours ago.

You never said Wells was bad??? You only compared him to a very below avg MU QB. You nor anyone else has suggested Wells is above criticism in this thread. Try and stay with what you've actually been discussing.

He's only needed to put together 0- 1 on game winning drive this season. You giving up on him after 1 come from behind drive? Nothing will make fans like you really happy. That is obvious.

Actually Wells is 0-2 if you look a the bowl game last year. And really you could include the UAB game because it was a winnable game until the end. But he went 8-23, and the accuracy issues he still has cost us.

I'm glad you have confidence in a QB who tried to spike the ball on 4th down, almost threw a pick by not reading the safety, then did throw a pick by trying to force the ball and underthrowing is by a mile.

He's an average at best QB right now. Nothing less nothing more. I hope he goes out and throws 5 TD's and 0 Int. nothing would make me happier.

Dude 500 yards was a joke relax. I never said he was bad. I compared him to Skinner, who was a below average QB. READ THESE NEXT WORDS VERY CAREFULLY: RALEIGH I AM SORRY I HURT YOUR FEELINGS BY COMPARING YOUR SON, OR NEPHEW, OR GRANDSON TO JIMMY SKINNER. IT WAS PROBABLY A BIT TOO HARSH. I THINK HE'S AVERAGE, AND I MADE THE MISTAKE OF COMPARING HIM TO SKINNER. I've said that like 4 times but you aren't one to care about facts.

You have to “joke” because you don’t have a real argument here. And I’ve said like 4 times he’s not a relative but you can’t stop being a joke.

Dude - I said “this season” specifically because I knew if I didn’t you would run like a 2 y.o.back to last year. Alas, your reading comprehension skills are possibly less than a toddlers!! Jeesh…..

Grant is a Great kid doing his best for Marshall. Is he where he needs to be, no. Will he improve, yes.

Is he the best QB on the team, yes. I‘ve been in the stands with his parents and listening to the stuff said out loud, directed at him like what is posted by grown men on this board about a kid not yet 21 is repugnant.

I am sorry I compared him to Jimmy Skinner. Is there something else I can do? A sacrifice of some type? Perhaps I could go to the chapel and light some candles. My entire point comes down to this: right now the kid is average, I think its unfair to put expectations on him that in my opinion are unrealistic given what we have seen so far in his career. Can he be better? Sure and I hope he is. You have a good day.

Wow this has some real "I am rubber and you are glue..." energy to it. I was just bringing up that if you take the entire body of work, he has yet to have a successful game winning drive. Last year still counted. Yes he's only had one chance this year but we are also 3 games into the year, so it feels like your cherry picking there a little bit. Again, my whole point is he's average. The end of game stuff doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

I'm glad to hear he is a great kid. I'm glad he's at Marshall. And I agree it is horrible what some people will say about a 21 year both in the stands and on message boards. There is no room for it and its wrong. No reason to get personal or attack them.

At what age is someone considered a man? 21 year old kid? There are 21 year olds that are sergeants in the military.

Why has no one summoned Herd Nation’s QB whisperer @riflearm2 ? I’m honestly curious as to his opinion on Wells.

Wells is already a good G5 QB . . . good enough to win a C-USA championship. Given his physical attributes, he can end up being a great FBS QB considering he has this season and three more to go.

Is he Pennington, Leftwich, or Cato at their prime? No, but nor were any of them 14 starts into their careers. A concern I have is that he has been in the program under the same coordinator, same position coach, and same system for a long time . . . spring ball, summer, a season; spring ball, summer, another season; spring ball, summer, and now this season, and he still makes some decisions with the ball that are concerning. Physically, he's going to be more than fine (and already is, even considering his propensity to overthrow). It's his mental decisions that concern me, especially for somebody who has been with the same position coach and coordinator for as long as he has.

So is Zban the answer? You damn well know his family trolls this board. He’s a local kid whose family played at Marshall.
I think people trash Grant hoping their boy Zban gets to play.

Good insight. He came out on fire last year, but the bad games seem to stick with him mentally it seems like. Hopefully he gets it going again soon(the mental aspect).

Why should our swiss cheese defense matter? we've got the gunslinger back there and he can throw for 500 yards! won't get us in the endzone but, that doesn't matter.
It ****ing matters when our secondary can’t stop anyone from catching a pass. We’ve scored more than enough points to win every game.. Are you Zbans dad?

Defense matters, agree 💯. My issue with the offense is and has been our inability to punch the ball in the end zone when we hit the red zone. We are great at moving the ball between the 20’s, but don’t fair well inside them. That’s a an issue Cramsey and Wells need to improve on
