fyi Charles Huff..

I didn't say we'd make the playoff. I'm saying if we were sitting at 10-1 right now with our only loss being at Ohio State we would be in the conversation. Not necessarily in, but in the conversation.

But again, we decided Stone was the better option at Va Tech and we decided we'd just go back and forth and let the Ga Southern game slip away.

As I predicted in a prior thread...people will be upset MU is winning currently and will proclaim, "DUUUURRRR GEORGIA SOUTHERN!!!"

That was over a month ago...just let it go.

He kinda did outsmart everyone with App, he absolutely smoked them.

“I apologize to all of Herd Nation,” Huff said. “I didn’t do a good job as head coach of getting our guys to finish in the last 4 minutes of the game. I take extreme ownership of it. We’ve got to find a way to get our guys to hold on to the ball and finish out the game.”

Have they lost since then?
Yes or no...

Regardless of when he changed, he changed and committed to it, now MU is in a good position to win the East.

Cool, glad we sacrificed a winnable Va Tech win to outsmart a school that had to spend a week on the road because of a major storm. Good job coach.

You're missing the point. Glad he took the blame after the Ga Southern debacle. He should have. Doesn't change the things he has said in the past or the way he's acted as head coach.

You're maybe one of the most infuriating posters on this board man.

I made the statement that he cost us a chance at being in the playoff conversation. You challenged it and I defended it, at which point instead of actually defending your position you just say "I predicted you guys wouldn't let it go! duuuuur".

I think it's great we've had a good season. If we lose Saturday that Ga Southern game is extremely important. And a D1 coach making the mistakes he made in that game can't happen. You can't have your team that unprepared to finish a game.

Then look at the Coastal game where we did everything we could to make that game close at the end.

He cost us 1-2 wins at the beginning of the season that are very important right now. We have won games sense, and that is great. I think he is a mediocre coach who doesn't want to be here. And when mediocre people try telling you they don't want to work for you anymore you should listen.

You're assuming that we actually want to. There have been rumors since the off season that Huff was never coming back. Those rumors got some credibility when his wife stepped down from her job.

As I had said in previous threads...MU is in the Catbird Seat this season.
I wasn't going to predict Huff's record, instead I was going to say what would happen if he had a good record vs. a bad one.

Huff is at the end of his contract, correct?

If he does poorly, he isn't retained, plain and simple and MU doesn't have to spend any money to buy him out. MU wins because no money spent and a bad coach is gone.

If he does well, he elevated his stock for other programs to pay him, the more success, the easier it is to get out.

MU by default, would offer an extension because they should...knowing they'll lose the bidding war to a P4.

Huff walks, MU has a good record and possible SBC championship appearance, maybe win, AND is a lucrative spot for a new head coach.
MU wins because Huff's improved stock is benefitted by MU as well.

This season, so far, has been as good a scenario as you could get.

"DURRRRR GEORGIA SOUTHERN!!!"

Let it go...MU hasn't lost in over a month.

He took responsibility for the loss...and he's actually acting like a head coach, NOW, and has made enough decisions to keep MU winning...

But you're the one going back to his past and what he has said, as some sort of critique of what he is...NOW?!

Who's got the ego problem again.

Well, y'all keep making references back to said game.
An absolute meltdown in the 4th quarter?
Absolutely, I agree. Frustrated the hell out of me.
Did I question the ability of the team after it? No doubt.
Do I look back at that game and use it as a reason to not think Huff has been better and actually matured in some way?
Hell no.

Especially since he hasn't lost since and no doubt MU had some bad schemes out there, but what matters is MU scored more points than the other team in the end.
As another poster said, the defense was not good, but the offense and Special Teams made up for it. That's a decent balance of depth there...and even the defense did well by causing fumbles...they just didn't go our way. It happens. Let it go. MU won.
I'll take an ugly win all day over a good looking loss...especially given what was at stake.

😂😂😂😂 "My wife cheated on me for years and constantly said she wanted a divorce but got cold feet and has been faithful for a few months! I'm not going to live in the past! She's being a good wife now!"

I'm very happy we're winning games, I'm just saying guy wants to leave we should let him leave. He's cost us games this year, we will be fine with our next head coach.

Dude I just reference that he cost us 2 games and that lowered the ceiling for this season. You are the one who asked what two games so that I would bring up the ga southern game and you could go on this preplanned stupid tirade. I was simply saying he hurt what the ceiling of this season is. You cannot deny that. It's great to look forward and I am, I hope we will the Sun Belt and dominate in a bowl. But to say "oh well it happened in the past" when evaluating a coach is extremely stupid and you know that.

- Virginia Tech, which plays hapless Virginia this weekend, winner gets a bottom shelf bowl game, was certainly a winnable game.
- It is not just Georgia Southern, this guy has a history of blowing games we should have won.
- No P4 (and, side note, is it not time to retire that term, Boise State is going to get the 4th place spot, and the AAC champion will also be higher ranked than the champion of the joke "Big" 12) team is looking at CH. CH is trying to get a job at USM. USM is, at best a lateral move, actually a move down considering resources and the GIANT shadow USM plays in with two SEC teams in state.
- CH doesn't want to be here. Really that simple. He had a plan, which was parlay success at a solid G5 (G6?) program into a slot in the P4, or perhaps the AAC or MWC. Everybody has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth. He simply hasn't made it. His dreams of intergenerational wealth that one gets in the big time, simply won't happen for him. I didn't get picked for astronaut training. Same deal. Dreams often don't come true. So CH is APPLYING for a job at USM, and his fall back is reabsorption into the buddy-buddy system of career journeyman assistants.
- Doc is gone. Doc's record is Doc's record. His history, other than leaving behind what CH said was "not a rebuild" is irrelevant.
- But, if you want to go there, SOME posters here got on this whole CUSA hate, back in the day. MU was just supposed to win, every week, every week, every week. Somehow the other teams in CUSA were all beneath us. NOTHING that could ever happen would satisfy. The truth, of course, was everyone else had the same goal, similar resources, etc. This year is totally different. This is not just some haters hating on the SBC. This is a skillful and thoughtful analysis of the teams we have played, and how we really drew an easy path, which won't come around again for a while.
- But, if you want to go further, in ALL of the G5, it seems clear to me that there are programs that simply will realize that they like Icarus, have flown too close to the sun, and will move back down a level or drop football entirely. The weakness of SBC teams this year is part of the proof of that. Conferences are going to be in a flux before we settle out at about 120 or so total schools. Navigating that take a nimble and able AD. But we have CS. At least we won't run out of Pepsi.

Are you too dense to look in the mirror and realize that has been exactly you for the past 3.5 seasons?

from MSN.com on thoughts on who replaces Mack Brown....
That’s what’s playing out with the Marshall Thundering Herd. The athletic department is (for some unknown reason) at odds with Charles Huff, and it’s no secret that they want to fire him. However, they can’t do anything right now, as Huff has the Thundering Herd in position to make the Sun Belt Championship Game.

Huff is just 41 and can clinch a Sun Belt East title with a win this week. He has ties to the DMV area that North Carolina likes to recruit and has coached at multiple Power Four stops, all with great success.

his agent puts out some good stuff.
