That's a relief, I was distracted by candy seeking ghoules. When I came back it was a Twilight Zone episode. It's our 2nd string D
Pathetic display, don't give a damn how we out talented them 1st half
The big question is can the offense score more points against Charlotte in the second half than they were able to score against North Texas.
I guess the answer is No. Being held to just 3 points against a team as bad as Charlotte is pretty sad. Its nice to get the win but we are not going to beat WKU playing like that. We may be able to beat Middle Tennessee and FIU but those games will end up being a battle.

No. FIU and MT should be simple W's. We weren't outplayed 2nd half, we just turned down.
Think Doc would embarrass Charlotte in a game where Ratliff was honored coached by Lambert? No chance...
We didnt turn it down. Litton was still throwing the ball all over the place into the 4th quarter and we were trying to run the ball but we couldnt get the ball in the endzone in the second half. Same thing as last week. This idea that we were somehow not trying to score in the second half is nonsense.
That was us trying!? Now I'm depressed. I know that we continued to go for it on 4th down, but that is the problem. We shouldn't have been in that situation. These 49ers aren't in the NFL, but by the way their D held against us, and their impressive TD drive in the 4th, they were playing at that level or we were not playing at our level. I know it was the latter. Trying is not doing. We were getting it done in the first quarter, did good in the second also, but it was like we flipped a switch and became a different team in the third. In the fourth well......3 points to their 7. We have to score every quarter if we are to win out the rest of our season. We didnt turn it down. Did we just give up? I have tickets for MTSU and WKU. We have to stop coasting through the 2nd half, or it will be some long, sad drives home.
We lost the second half 7 - 3.
It seems that the opposing team went into halftime, made adjustments, and then came out in the 2nd half ready to play. We on the other hand did not.
We did not stop trying. How can you even say that when we were going for it on 4th downs? This game was eerily similar to last week as far as halftime adjustments are concerned.
I do think sloppy and inexcusable penalties committed in the 2nd half caused our offense to lose momentum and stall drives, but this was still Charlotte we played, not exactly an established I-A team.
Not so much a comparison as a premonition. We are developing some bad 2nd half habits. Laying off after halftime seems to be our signature move. So much so that an amateur like myself can predict it.Are you really comparing a game we knew we could win by 60 all along and decided to just let off the gas and cruise to games we know we'll have to go 100% all game long? Come on now.
Bad 2nd half habits could definitely cost us against MTSU and WKU. We MUST play the entire 60 minutes...think 2013 game @ MTSU and last year's OT loss to WKU.
Like I said above... the players and coaches obviously know that. Just as we, and they, knew they absolutely did NOT have to play hard for 60 minutes at Charlotte. We could spot them 25 points and win 9/10 times. When they NEED to play 60, they will.
While you may be right that we didn't play hard the second half because we didn't need to, I don't think that's a compliment of our team.
What I think happened is when we got in the red zone in the third quarter, Charlotte adjusted and started bringing the house on our young qb, who then struggled to finish the drives.
As usual, we did nothing play calling to help him out. The running game never not going, and we continued to refuse to do anything with Foster but run him between the tackles. We didn't move the pocket. I've been begging for some kind of screen game since Kent.
I think what actually hapoened was Legg got outmaneuverd in the third quarter, it was exacerbated by our missed FGs, then we pulled the plug early in the 4th. The defense certainly never stopped playing hard.

So do you still think its funny? As I was saying. You can play sloppy and not fully execute against bad teams like Charlotte and still win but when you dont execute against better teams like Middle Tennessee you're going to be in trouble. FIU could end up with the same outcome. And again there is no way we beat WKU playing like this. WKU beat Middle Tennessee by 30
