Yehh it is sad the guy died but the reality is he is no hero and no need for worship. His example is one that people should learn from. Reality is the guy had everything and died of a drug overdose. People act like they were best friends with the guy. He is not a good example to follow. We are so melodramatic about everything in this country. And, we go on an on about a drug addicted star dying.

Yes, his story is sad, but let's stop the worshiping.

I guess through all our arguments about politics we have it pretty good when a major story in our lives is about a guy keeling over from taking pain killers.

The whole thing has made me want to listen to Hank Sr. This whole Prince music is weird. Crazy noises, sounds like a woman, looks weird. It's a freak show. No wonder he overdosed on drugs.

Last I heard the toxicology report will take weeks. Are you some kind of oracle?

There is another rumor out there, and if true I am sure you and Walden will have a field day with it.

Anyway, Prince dying is big news because he is one of the few musicians who cut across genre and race. When I was younger I was more into hard rock, metal, and punk than anything but Prince was fvxking awesome. Great songwriter and dude could shred an axe.

Queer? Wouldn't surprise me. Really I'm hoping by next week we don't hear much more about it. They play his music and show him on there. I'd rather not hear it or see it. Won't take long and it'll all be over just like it was with Michael Jackson. This is just Michael Jackson all over again, hopefully sans the little boys he wanted to lay around with or whatever.

Prince could walk away with your wife in a heartbeat, and please where is the link he died of an overdose.

The illuminati killed him because he was exposing him.

Well, I've been able to watch baseball these last couple nights without seeing it scroll across the bottom of the screen so it's all right.

genius musician, decades ahead of his time. He probably has a vault full of studio recording work that will gradually come out for years to come now that he's dead.

I don't doubt his talent and he was an artistic genius.

That being said the reality is they are running his death in the ground. I guess I just don't get the celebrity worship. People staying out all night listening to his music blasted over speakers. Lighting up bridges and buildings. Ok. whatever.

Same things with jackson. Dude liked little boys and was weirdo. But, they never shut up about the guy.

If he did take a metric ton of percocets I'm wondering if the narcan (basically a morphibe antidote) got him out of the acute overdose but the acetaminophen (Tylenol) in the pills got him a couple days later if he went into acute liver failure.

Toxicology will be helpful.

I use narcotics for cancer pain, but man that stuff is addictive.

I'm buying the HIV, quit the drug regiment, accepted death, got the flu, sped up the process of death theory.

Could be this too.

For whatever reason sometimes savants tend to be distrustful of "regular" medicine...so very curable or treatable things like HIV or neuro endocrine tumors (steve jobs) may go untreated, hence becoming a problem and then it's too late.

Obviously there's done speculation in that, but not outside the realm.

Wasn't he a Jehovah's Witness as well. In sure that played into his treatment as well

I really enjoy your contributions to the board. It is kind of strange that I've only heard the word "narcan" twice in my life and both times have been in the last 24 hours from entirely different circumstances. I'm watching a show on Netflix called Crossing Lines (a team of detectives that fight crime that crosses the borders between countries in Europe) and in an episode I watched last night a detective was given an overdose of some drug (one that I now know must have been morphibe based) and before he passed out he whispered "Give me narcan!" Then I read your post.

Thanks.

I've only given it a few times - but I've seen it work well...the patient goes from zombie to puking or thrashing (but at least alert with a respiratory drive) in like 5 minutes. Pretty crazy

Watching someone come back from an od after being given narcan is something you will never forget

I've never seen it in a drug abuser, but I know how that goes. I don't do much (if any) acute care anymore, so hence my lack of experience.

Way back when I was an intern though we had a little old lady that for whatever reason was given a little too much morphine for post op pain. I was called to bedside because she wouldn't respond. I gave her narcan and she sat right up, vomited a bit, and was pretty much fine like 30 minutes later.

Maybe he wouldn't take blood transfusions, but my experience with most JW is that outside of that they are agreeable to most recommendations. But others may have other experience .

And perhaps he discovered the lost chord and was translated from this life to the next by the Mousai. Just a thought.

Report I heard was that he needed a hip replacement surgery but refused based on religious beliefs. Became addicted to pain pills. OD'D 6 days before his death and was on his plane. They did an emergency landing and he was treated and revived at a small hospital. Doctors we t to admit him but his handlers refused because the hospital was small and didn't have private rooms. They brought him back with that drug but he was checked out of the hospital against doctors advice. Dead 6 days later.

the 2nd best thing about Prince (after his guitar skillz) is the fact he lived his entire life in Minnesota. when asked about moving to Hollywood he said, "Why?"

That's what I read too. I'm doing major speculation here, but his JW beliefs could make the hip operation a tad riskier, as there can be a chance for significant bleeding requiring transfusion.

The drug that "brought him back" would likely be Narcan (naloxone) - which "cures" the opiod overdose, but doesn't address the acetaminophen. However, it would take a pretty big number of pills to OD on acetominophen, because there's only 325 mg in them (daily tolerance up to ~ 4,000 mg).

It's all speculation until the toxicology comes out, but in my opinion these are not beyond the realm of possibilities and it's OK to play internet forensic pathologist until we hear.

It wouldn't take much to OD considering he weighed about 100 pounds soaking wet. Add in flu, dehydration, possible AIDS...what most of us could handle for a bad pain day could easily kill him.

When my jaw was broken and infected I took a shitloads of pain killers. The pain was tremendous; my heart attack was a walk in the park in comparison. I can easily see someone in pain taking too many.

Apparently he does. Have you seen the video where Kevin Smith talks about shooting a documentary for Prince? It's hilarious, check it out. Anyway, he says Prince's video producer told him she produced 50 full-blown music videos for Prince and he never released them. He probably has hundreds of songs in the vault.

Friend of my family worked for Prince off and on the last couple years while one of his crew members took some time off. Toured with him during his "secret" "unannounced" concert stops all around the world, as well as worked for him at his Minnesota studio. All of the stories about his weirdness....completely accurate. Only certain people were allowed to talk to him or even look at him in the eyes for risk of being terminated. Paid well for his time though.

That is why I don't worship guys like this. Don't look him in the eyes? Who was he Saddaam Husseign? The Wizard of Oz? Medusa? I wouldn't need a paycheck that bad. I would do it just to get fired. Looked you in the eyes mother 8888er, you scrawny little bastard. Yes Drill Sgt, Prince.

That is bizarro world stuff. Great musician. Weirdo though.

You don't have to worship someone in order to appreciate their talent.

Sometimes you gotta work in strange environments in order to be able to work anywhere you want later. This same friend now has "Prince" on his body of musical work ("resume") and is being sought out by some very big musical artists. He's writing his own ticket.

Don't you drive around in a fvcking Prius because your work told you to do so?

Wonder if he had the curse. I don't want to be looked at period, especially in the eyes. I don't look at people when I talk to them or when they talk to me. If it's friendly enough, I'll turn my head their general direction. That's it. Not even familiar people get a direct look.

Feels way too weird and intrusive. I realize however that at least 99.85% of everybody else is not like this.

Not even the wife and kids.

It's nice to have avoided that. Just think, if I had those I would still have no interest. However, I'd be saddled with these damn people around that I would hate by now.

I would have paid them to leave by now, I'm sure of it. Divorce, just give her half. Give her 90%. Whatever the hell it takes to get her and that kid the hell out of my life. I'd want them out. I'd shell out the money and cuss them out at the top of my lungs until they left.

I thought your employer gave you one, are you still driving your old gas hog?

No they gave me a Focus go kart for awhile until I raised enough hell and they then realized how stupid of a decision that car was. I now have a SUV.
