Had the house exterior painted. The company I hired sent over two Mexicans(well one is technically from Guatemala).

2600 square feet two story and the back is essentially three with the crawl space. Replaced some of the wood trip that was rotted, sealed and caulked, taped it off.So, there was some carpentry work involved. Painted it and stained three decks with two coats and stained the lattice around the taller deck that covers the bottom where you can store stuff underneath. Painted the windows seals and everything. Oh, and power washed it before they started. Had to removed all the gutters and painted the garage door and two storage room doors.

I will put them up against any of your good old boys out there and give your boys a head day start and they can run a three man crew. You are going to lose at least one or two days for your guys showing up drunk or not showing up at all because they are drunk. Plus, it was upper 90's every day and the UV index was a bitch.

I can hire a Mexican painter to do some painting around my house and he will do it for $300. The white man will want $900. The black man probably won't do it.

If I own a landscaping company am I going to hire a Mexican for $8 an hour or a white guy for $15? Remember the Mexican will work cheap and off the books(he might have to). Same thing for construction.

I would rather hire a low wage Mexican to do it.

I know what you mean Herdman. Guatemala or Mexico they are all the same. Those short brown men all look the same. Herdman a few days ago I leveled up by woodshop. I used blocks and a 2'12" to level the building. There is a long lost art, especially holding down the pressure and still chalking up the building. I painted it white with red trim. I put up underpinning and gutters.My 4yr old grandson stood right with me. Then I laid 5 sheets of plywood over an already very solid floor. Why did I Do that? I did that because someone wanted me to give him the 5 sheets
He already has enough wood to build 3 houses. I painted around every single window in the house.Then I cut weeds for two hrs. Decided to lay a few shingles on my woodshop. Ended up fixing the entire roof. Above was not work but play. Then I woke up next morning. Both feet very sore but yet numb. Left shoulder and right thump hurting alot. Short of breath all that day. Slightly strained groin
I can get it done but never without suffering later. Can work as hard but surely harder than you for one day Herdman. When your working on something of your own their is not enough time in a day

i hired a friend earlier in the spring to totally strip and restain my house. 75% complete and haven't seen him for the past two weeks. has one small section on a gable to strip and stain then replace some facia boards that bore bees had tore up and stain those. also needs to replace the metal around windows. no contact, nothing.
