I think a 30k crowd for Boise would depend partially on what we do in the first 3 games. Heck the Pitt crowd could depend on what happens in GreenvilleWe absolutely have an attendance problem but the Pitt and Boise games both would have had 30K plus inside the Joan.
Fair points although I think the crowd for Pitt would be good regardless of how we played against ECU.I think a 30k crowd for Boise would depend partially on what we do in the first 3 games. Heck the Pitt crowd could depend on what happens in Greenville
Boise on a Friday night will be lucky to draw 28000. They won’t bring any fans and we killed our out of town attendance by moving the game to Friday
Weeknight games ALWAYS hurt attendance sans wvu/cincy. A team 2000 miles away isn’t going to bring fans.I don't think so. Many have pointed to this game for some time; and even early on, there were rumblings of moving the date. Many coming likely made plans accordingly.
Thankfully both Midland and SV play out of town that Friday, so that will help as well. jmo

We'll see. I think it will have more to do with our record than anything else.
Agree. We don’t have a game on our schedule in recent history that comps well with Boise on a Friday night.you are correct. and I think Thursday and Friday night games are a little different than other weeknight games. silly to lump them all in a statement "weeknight games" .

Marshall fans have been social distancing at Football games for the last 5 seasons. What is limiting capacity supposed to do?
I can’t make it either way but to think that boise will be a sellout is misguided.Stop bitching Karen, you have several months to prepare for the game.
Who claimed it would be a sellout?I can’t make it either way but to think that boise will be a sellout is misguided.
The 30k number was brought up if we were 0-3. We would be lucky to get that if we were 3-0Who claimed it would be a sellout?
I agree but that's still only ~75% capacity. The 30k number was brought up if we were 0-3. We would be lucky to get that if we were 3-0

You sure about your estimate Chris?

with a Heisman Trophy contenderWe sold out Louisville and even stripped the stadium. That was for a terrible team that just lost to Akron and our starting QB was out.
Boise State fans travel well
Can only speak for myself but I'll drive 2 hours + for the Pitt game but will sit at home and watch the Boise tilt.Potential fan attendance for the Boise game are all rumors until football comes around. I do agree that playing a marquee game for us on a Friday night is an attendance killer.
I tend to agree with you, we packed the joint for a Sunday afternoon game that was on national TV via BTN with Purdue a few years back.I want to say we had 30,000 for the NCSU game two years ago for a contest we all knew we were going to lose. You're proving my point.

We sold out that Louisville game before it was announced that our QB was out and we had no prayer (they held that announcement until a few hours before kickoff). And it was really their fans that pushed it to a sellout (Beyond our usual 32-33k), they had thousands there beyond their allotment. We were surrounded by red at midfield.
I had season tix 28 rows up on the 50 yard line on the east side. We had U of L fans all around us. I asked a few how they got those seats and most simply went on Herdzone and bought them. They were left unsold to Herd fans.... I gave those seats up before last season. I was at game last year with a ticket someone had given me. It was a chairback. I hate those seats so I went over and sat in my old seat. I can't believe that 50 yard line seats that I gave up had not been taken by someone. In fact. I noticed that the 4 seats behind me and 2 seats next to me were vacant as well. Those too had been occupied by relatively longtime Herd season ticket holders the previous
My sister in law and her husband have bought Sec109 tickets on a single game basis for years. They sit about half way up the grandstand right on the mid field aisle. They have never made a donation to the athletic dept.
