Herd is -1 vs. WKU

Actually not. I correctly said the team would have a month long break from reality, playing joke teams, and that reality would return in November. It did. We beat a fellow mediocre in FAU, and then were easily manhandled by by UAB. I also correctly predicted that during the month long break a lot of people who don’t know much about football would talk about “improvement” and “gelling” and “coming together” and other such nonsense. Then UAB grabbed this team by the throat and said “nope”.

We now play another fellow mediocre. WKU has taken care of its business, not being grossly unprepared and therefore losing to a terrible MTSU, and playing to a similar record against a MUCH better schedule.

Do we have a shot? Sure. A puncher’s chance. But the line is totally off.

Which ever team wins, will be +14 or more @ UTSA. And should be.
But again, help me understand that when Doc was here, we were expecting too much. Now, we are mediocre and accepting of that. That's a nice 180.

Never claimed such a thing. Actually the opposite.

Still haven’t beaten a team that will finish the season with a winning record.

You can name call and revise what actually happens all day.

Doesn’t change where this team is.

Still hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record.

soooooooooooo..........how many days will have to pass after we win for you to come on here & act like you never said such things?

Correct. This team hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record. Pretty mediocre.

Yet, a division championship is on the line this Saturday, in this conference you’ve been preaching that everyone must respect, because all teams are “trying”

So what is it, hypocrite?

It’s crazy to think that 10-4 is still a possibility for this years team, as is 7-6.

Pretty mediocre.
All I have been saying, all along. Mediocre. Others have been spewing nonsense about how the coach is up for, what, one of the top 40 jobs in the country. About how the team has somehow “gelled” or “come together” or what not, rather than simply playing a month of cupcakes before UAB grabbed it by the throat with a dash of reality.

This is a mediocre football team. It hasn’t “improved”, it hasn’t “learned”, it hasn’t done anything besides lose every game, but one (FAU) to a team that has pulse and win every game, but a huge glaring one (MTSU) to dysfunctional teams, many of them mentioned in Ryan McGee’s “Bottom 10” column.

Mediocre. All I have been saying. Consistently and honestly.

We very well may beat 7-4 WKU and not extend CH’s record of not beating a team with a winning record on our level into the second year. Holiday beat Ohio, which went 8-5 in his 4th game; Snyder, who was an idiot, took until his 30th game to do so (one of three such wins he got in five long years); Pruett did so in his first game (I-AA, which was our level at the time) and got his first I-A win versus a team with a winning record in his 10th game when we moved up; Donnan got his in his 4th game; Chaump in his 6th game; Parrish in his 11th; and Sonny, in his FIRST GAME.

But I have confidence. We will either win this weekend, or certainly sometime next year we will beat someone with a winning record. Snyder’s record is not in danger at all.

He explicitly said last fall that we expected too much. That Marshall football wasn't for us. But now we are supporting a mediocre program? Quite the turn. Never realized Sam liked Doc so much.

He's either enjoying pulling everyone's chain, or really believes what he posts. ?????

No matter what happens the rest of this year, we will have a winning season. Something many college teams would kill for.
I attended Marshall during a time that we were only one game short of tying the record for the longest college football losing streak. We even messed up getting that major record. We beat Bowling Green.

Stay consistent. Coach’s name is Huff.

But you really need to focus your attention on respecting our opponents. Everyone in this conference is here for football and they’re all trying. Respect our conference. Respect Huff.

Sammy, what are you smoking? Herd losses have been by 4, 1, 6, and 7 pts. According to proper definitions, not yours, which of those would qualify as "being manhandled" or "blown out?"

Umm, yeah, YOU just did. If CUSA football "sucks" then it serves to reason that winning games it it should be automatic, but yet no accomplishment. THIS is the sick illogic of the football anhedonians, unable to enjoy our awesome team and the great opponents we play. So sick, in fact, that you cannot even wait for the first game.

Here’s an idea: close losses? All 4 L’s by one score. I think that fits the definition…..
Close losses count as....

wait for it

wait for it

wait for it.

LOSSES.

But I have confidence. This team will either beat WKU, it is a toss up game according to the bookies; and/or get assigned to a pre-Christmas bowl versus a team that is 7-5 rather than 6-6, and beat it. It will happen that this team, probably this year, and certainly next year will beat someone with a winning record. Snyder's record is in no danger.

As a side note, I love how some of you conflate the discussion of CUSA football and CUSA basketball. It is an undeniable fact that no one was in CUSA 2.0 but for football. They are/were here because they wanted a football league that was at a particular level. Some are good at it, some are mediocre, some are outright bad, but all joined up for the football. They all brought men's basketball, and all the rest, along. All with different levels of commitment, history, resources, and just plain old interest in men's basketball, and all the rest of the sports. Some are darn good, some simply don't care and spend the minimum on it. That is a criticism of men's basketball, not of football. And it remains true. And it is even more true of the SBC, although, IMHO, the number of schools in the SBC that have a serious interest in men's basketball is higher than in CUSA.

This game against WKU has the makings of becoming really good game for Marshall if the players keep their heads into the game for the whole 60 minutes. The DB's must stay tight with their receiver and not let anyone get behind them. The defensive line must stop the run and not let the QB escape the pocket. The LB's must keep the backs from becoming safety valves for mid field passes and swing routes.

On the offensive side of the ball, it's simple, no fumbles, no interceptions (throw the D$%#@ ball in the stands), grind out the game with very strong running game therefore WKU offense is very limit time and touches of the ball.

Now saying all that I really believe Marshall has the defense team to handle WKU and come away with a very important win.

Oh, final thought, Sammy, go get a life. You be better watching and commenting on WVU sports than Marshall!!
