I do not understand why there is not any links or headline section on the home page. Looking for news on Marshall the soccer team and their scores it's not to be found. Why??

This sentiment always makes me chuckle.

Go to a match, I don't care if you understand it or not. If you come out still thinking it's not a "real sport", then you haven't a clue about sports to begin with.
Or just maybe this person has at long last finally realized that continuing to linger around the Shewey building after football practices is NOT going to improve his chances of PERSONALLY obtaining an "X" from Doc Holliday in his autograph book of "Mediocre Head Football Coaches"!!!

It’s the most popular sport in the world
That's because it's the cheapest to play. All you need is a ball. 3rd world countries can't afford to outfit football teams.

Also it doesn't matter because it's not the most popular sport in America and it never will be. People tune into the WC not because they're soccer fans, but because of patriotism. It's America vs the world. Same with the Olympics.

The only reason why anyone is paying attention to MU Soccer is because we're good. Not because we're soccer fans. If baseball won the CWS you'd see the same spike. I hope it doesn't happen, but let the soccer fall into some Snyder-eque years. As soon as they fall off they'll fall from people's minds.

For a better comparison to the argument. A regular season win in football over Notre Dame has gotten way more exposure for the school than winning a natty in soccer did.

I'm sure that's going to piss the soccer purists off, but it's the truth. Past coaches, players, fans, and news people were hanging over each other in tears and reminiscing after beating a down ND team. Someone paid 13k for the ball that HC kneeled in victory formation.

Soccer could win 5 national titles and still never have a player that captures past, present, and future fans like Chad Pennington.

I'm not saying Soccer shouldn't be getting any shine, but don't be so surprised when people say they don't care about soccer.

Still kind of nice to say we are a National Champ at the top level.
Heck yea it is, but it is what it is. In America football is far and away #1.

Non soccer fans could do good to name a single player, but you're 80 year old grandma with dementia knows who Tom Brady is.

I get what you're saying Bleeds, and can agree with you on most of it, but quite frankly I do not agree with this statement at all nor do I think it's true.

I think MSOC's success gave people the opportunity to interact with the sport, and from there it snowballed into a genuine interest and love of the sport all around for a lot of people, myself included. I never watched watched soccer before 2018, hell it was Jamil Roberts who talked me into going to a match. Now I'm a pretty avid MLS and Serie-A fan, can't get enough of the Champions League right now.

Do I think that MSOC would take an attendance hit if they went on say a two-year skid? Sure, there will always be fans who show out just because of the winning i. Any sport, but it wouldn't be the hit you might expect.

This is no knock on the girls, but look at their crowds. They frequently have the bleachers almost filled to their entirety, and they aren't really the best, I think we're bottom of standings right now. I think that proves that people are just genuinely enjoying the sport.

I'll be at Hoops Saturday evening watching our 8th ranked program. I already know what's gonna happen at Troy.
I'm not going to say I know what is going to happen at Troy either way...I do know I'm not watching that on TV live over the chance to watch our highly successful soccer program play on Saturday night.

it's an easy choice. I hope some day, I get that "I have to see FB games" mojo back but I don't have it now. I"ll be at every home FB game and a few road games, and will watch FB live on TV when away.....but if there is a conflict I'd probably attend live basketball and soccer over watching our FB program on TV right now.
