Houston is 7-0 and the 7 wins they have come from teams with a combined record of 12-39. Gosh do you recall how we got bashed last year for a weak schedule. One other note Louisville accounts for 25% of this 12 wins being 4-4, everyone else is under .500 including a winless UCF

Houston is crushing Vandy 34-0 in the 4th Q. I don't understand why some fans/posters never give opponents credit. I've only seen Houston on TV and not live this year but they pass the eye test. Athletic and quick on both sides of the ball.

Actually we were ranked in the last polls before the Committee's first poll too. Houston fortunately for them, gets their BEST win (and against an SEC no less) the week of the first Playoff Committee poll, that and the strength of their conference this year will get them a little more recognition than we got.

I believe that the point OP was making is that we looked just as good, if not better last year, playing similar level competition, and weren't even getting sniffed by this point in the season.

we were ranked #23 this time last year. not that far off. now, if they are ranked in the "committee" top 25 when rankings come out Tuesday you have a point...

Houstons 8 wins have a combined 16 wins, that my friend is no more of a soft schedule than Marshall played last year and by the way WKU won at Vandy, Vandy would not even win CUSA

LOL you wish.

The reason we're getting more recognition than Marshall, is because we played and BEAT 2 P5 teams and play in a much stronger conference.

Your 8 wins come with a combined 16 wins between those teams you beat, Vandy would not even win CUSA and Louisville is way down again this year and would not win CUSA either, WKU and Marshall would also beat the Cards.

And I thought ole Coog has disappeared! Where you been Coog? We have been waiting for your chest thumping about Houston on this board.

Whoston SOS-120
Marshall SOS-128
I wouldn't say your schedule is "dominant" by any stretch of the imagination

ESPN owned Houston is 7-0 and the 7 wins they have come from teams with a combined record of 12-39. Gosh do you recall how we got bashed by ESPN last year for a weak schedule, because ESPN was touting its teams. The best thing to do is to understand that ESPN does not cover it straight, no matter how much its defenders, and the defenders of THE AMERICAN!!!!!! claim it does.

Fixed it for you.

You guys arguing is a lot like poop telling puke it stinks. Both schedules suck. Our schedule sucked last year...it sucks again this year. We were ranked until we pissed it away last year. Houston is yet to do that.

Houston is looking good this year...real good. They may lose next week and fall to the land of irrelevance, or they could go undefeated...who cares? You sound like a bitter ex-girlfriend bitching about a team that is doing exactly what we are. Give it a rest.

SamC, you have no credibility left on this subject!! you should move on to some of the many other areas where you can leave your bias behind and comment with the kind of insight you used you be so good at.

One thing to consider - and maybe i'm just perceiving it incorrectly - but this year, there aren't as many clear cut dominant teams as there were last year. just seemed like there were more power houses, this year has been riddled with upsets and perennial top 25 teams aren't in there.

maybe that's why houston is so much higher. lack of other strong teams, not necessarily because they are perceived as better than last year's herd.

Last year was last year. This year, the computer rankings seem to like Houston despite Sam C's assertion that ESPN owns the school, the conference and just about everything else detrimental to Marshall.

Jeff Sagarin Rankings Kenneth Massey Rankings

Rank Team Rank Team
25 Houston 19 Houston
74 Marshall 54 Marshall

We're 8-0 you retard and being under an ESPN contract is best for business.

SamC, you have no credibility left on this subject!! .

Arguing that ESPN plays it straight is like arguing that the North Korean newspapers have a valid point of view.

ESPN does not play it straight. Not in college sports, and not in anything. The simple fact is that if ESPN can get by with it, if you are not an ESPN owned league/sport/conference, it will not cover you. It can ignore CUSA, has to lightly mention things like the NHL or NASCAR, and has to cover big things like the World Series or the US Open. But the level of coverage is always related to what benefits ESPN.

That is the ESPN business plan. Plan A is always going to be Boise State, with which ESPN has a unique and separate contract from its conference. Plan B is this THE AMERICAN!!!!! nonsense. Plan C is the MAC. The level of coverage of, especially, Houston, is gettingH with no mention of the SOS is for mind-numbed robots who buy into all of this ho-ha.

Fact is if CUSA lands with ESPN next year (and I hope it does not, because ESPN's weeknights would kill us) Marshall SOS will never be discussed again. Fact is if THE AMERICAN!!!! left, it would never be mentioned again.

And you know that.

Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, you make these statements like they are fact instead of suppositions and conclusions drawn by someone with an agenda himself and someone who has been blinded by his need to be right on these conclusions. There is NO Plan A or Plan B. Maybe you should throw a few more over the top observations into your analysis too, "mind-numbed robots", WOW. Hurts to be wrong, I know, but Saying it over and over and saying it LOUDER!!!!! just doesn't make it so.

Don't know what it's like now, but in ?'01? when ESPN lost their NASCAR contract, you couldn't find NASCAR news on ESPN with a search team. They softened that, but it took a long time.

2 P5 wins + AAC schedule >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0 P5 wins + CUSA schedule
You need to worry about winning your conference championship, all those impressive P5 wins mean nothing if you can't win your conference championship.
