I was thinking how long has it been since both the football and basketball teams went to post season play the same year? (NCAA and bowl or 1aa playoff) I am thinking 1987. Whenever it was it sure feels good to be good at both sports.
If you go by calendar year, it would be 87, made the NCAA basketball tournament, losing the first round and made the NCAA I-AA football playoffs, losing the championship game. If you go by school year, then it is 47-48, 47 football went to the Tangerine Bowl, played 1/1/48 and lost, 47-48 basketball, failed to defend their national small college (NAIA, at the time there were only two division in college sports, the NCAA and the NAIA, half of the field in the NAIA of that era are NCAA DI schools today) championship, losing in the second round.
If your counting NIT the 2011-2012 school year is the year you are thinking about...If you’re counting the NIT then calendar year 88 is the last time. I don’t count those contrived events of recent vintage.

The NIT was not mentioned by the OP.
