At this point I'd settle for Doc speak, as long as it came with some actionable results.
John didn’t do well there either
The first thing he needs to learn is how to hire assistants.
He has been very nomadic his whole career. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave on his own.
Snyder took over a bad team that was moving into what was a better conference at the time. Huff on the other hand has been very vocal about how this isn’t a rebuild and the talent to win is here.
That bad team that Snyder took over had Ahmad Bradshaw and lost to Ohio State on a 56 yd field goal the year before. Mark Snyder sucked there is no but after it he sucked. He lost to a 6-5 FCS New Hampshire team at the Joan. His coaching blunders were legendary. No amount of revisionist history will change the damage that he did to our program that we are still trying to dig out of. The reason Doc lasted 11 years was because how horrible Snyder took this program. We went from a program that was looked at as on of the top G5’s in the country to one where we just hoped to win 6 games and go to a bowl. Docs mediocrity would have never been put up with had he not followed the train wreck who was Snyder.

You guys are forgetting docs epic meltdown last year. This is basically the same team that complete imploded last year. We weren’t good then and we aren’t good now. I’m not off the huff train but that train is definitely slowing down. Improvements need to be seen week to week instead of regressions. That includes players and coaches.

I agree with you. This isn’t as much the team that started 7-0 last year but the one that completely fell apart after that. To me, they’ve got the mentality of losing stuck in their heads from last year. Absent the secondary, the talent seems to be there. They just can’t get out of their own way (not wrapping up, fumbles, forcing balls into double coverage, etc). They beat themselves.
Huff is new. While I am disgusted with how this year has gone, I have to give him some time to figure things out. And there is a lot to figure out.
At this point, this is likely a lost season. I just have to deal with that and hope he can hit the transfer portal to sure up areas of need and maybe replace some of the coaching staff.

Vs Rice, UAB, & Buffalo; the accumulative score was 59-23.
In our last 3 games this season, vs ECU, Appy St, & MTSU; the accumulative score is 107-96.

You were happier than a pig in shit with Holliday and didn't agree with his termination. You will talk negative about Huff until the man either moves on or is fired.

Not sure what’s expected of him the fist season but 7-5 is about where I had us at seasons end. To me, I think he’s a dynamic recruiter and is doing a much better job at being the program CEO than John. His problem IMO is precisely what @riflearm2 has pointed out multiple times, his staff is weak. He’s at a pivotal point in his young career as a HC. The next 3 games we are heavily favored in, he needs to win all 3

Yes they lost to Ohio State in a close one and 13-3 to Georgia. But then they quit. Embarssing blowout lost to Bowling Green and epic meltdown the last 2 and a half minutes at Akron. And they completely laid down in Fort Worth against Cincinnati.. They lost a lot of players from that team going into 2005. I am by no means a Snyder fan, and I love Coach Pruett, but let's be honest about that 2004 team. Tons of talent that just quit on the season.

ODU is horrid, easy win. Took a check to lose to Wake Forest, beat a HBCU I-AA, blown out by a darn good Liberty team, lost close to a bad Buffalo team, lost to a UTEP team that hasn’t beaten anyone any good.
But after that? North Texas has played the best two teams in the conference and nationally ranked SMU. We should certainly not be favored and if we are, lay the points. UNT win. Reality is this team loses to anyone with a pulse.

I won't completely discount his recruiting just yet, but he's not blowing anyone's doors off. We have 23 commits to the 2022 class and it doesn't look any different than any previous years. Maybe recruiting to Bama and PSU inflated his profile a bit. Maybe. I know we currently have the 41st ranked class, but we also have the 5th most verbals too.
As to being heavily favored. That line for ODU says a lot more about ODU than it does Marshall.
We can slice up the roster and last year's results all day long and it doesn't matter. This team may not be as good as we thought it was or maybe last year's championship game appearance was a COVID mirage, but this roster is not miss a bowl bad. You are lying to yourself if you think it is.
As bad as MTSU's result was it was still 100% lost because of us. Even with 6 turnovers we only lost by 6 points.
He hired a bunch of bums and it's showing. This is 100% on Huff. He stood up there and praised Doc's defensive staff and said it was his job to recruit them to stay and then fired them within a couple hours of saying that. The only coach he kept was the one coach everyone wanted gone. Cramsey. Four years of watching this bum and he still can't figure out the flow of a game.

No argument. Understand that this team won the division last year an had won not less than 8 games in non-C**** years 4 years in a row and 7 out of the last 8 years. Backing into one of the earliest bowl games at 7-5 seems the most likely outcome this year. Massive decline. FAU looks solid, UAB is far better than its record, still my pick to win the west, MTSU lost to UNCC and beat us, so that it that, WKU has been playing money games, hard to tell, but they are usually pretty good. Hard to see where the wins are.
Alabama doesn’t “recruit” it selects. Convincing a five star to play for Alabama is a totally different skill from finding a team to play in the G5.
Agree 100%. There is a reason ODU is everyone homecoming opponent. They are not any good. Any praise that comes out of this game’s expected result is empty posturing. Anything other than a blowout says we are in even more trouble than we think
