Some of his tweets lately make it seem like a guy who had never been kissed.
Now he's running around Social Media boosting about it.

Dam man, act as you have actually been an HC before. The Tweet to the Alum
and Ex-Players was cool. I don't get the tweet to the MBB, knowing that WV
players make up a small majority of the roster, this one doesn't make sense either.

Don't get me wrong, nice statement, but a little odd.

Spend less time on Social Media making strange statements and more time recruiting.

He's a pretty active guy on Twitter, even before he got here. Personally, I like it. I'm someone who wanted transparency inside the HC Office, and someone who actually seemed like he wanted to build a relationship with the fan base; which Huff is trying to do.

As for recruiting, I'm not too worried about him being more focused on his 280 characters opposed to getting kids in here. In today's age being a HC and actively engaged on Twitter is probably a good recruiting tool as well.

Huff's Herd, Huff Tuff, Huff's Heros...students could be Huff's Hellions!! Love the possibilities.

Just scanning through the past week, you can notice a pattern. On several of these talk shows he's been on, he's mentioned getting up at 5am, making a list of things to get done for the day and not going home until everything is checked off, whether 10pm or 2am. I get the real sense that he goes about his business in an organized and methodical matter. So, it seems one of those items to check off each day, at least, so far, is to put out a message to someone/group not currently inside the Shewey and to whomever that message is too, the PRIMARY things you one can take from them all is; Energy, Positivity, and a new "brand" of MU football that people Can and ARE being attracted to unlike anything we've seen before.

This is a HUGE change from past but certainly much needed.
So i can see the idea of it being excessive. However, the Former Player vid, Alumni vid, High School Coaches vid, they're all the same, basically. To create a "want" to come back, a "want" to donate and buy season tix, a "want" for local and state HS coaches to call him with a stud prospect, etc...

The MBB and WBB vid i think was actually awesome! Does anyone remember how much FUN and CAMARADERIE Bruce Pearl and Pat Summit had supporting each other teams BB teams at Tennessee? I mean Pearl went shirtless for crying out loud for a game i think. I think Coach's point was to get that type of excitement/camaraderie here. just my opinion tho. lol

Ummmm. He hasn't......

He's just excited about this opportunity. I don't see anything wrong with reaching out to the local area HS coaches.

I thought one of the main digs on Doc was that he wasn't involved in the community enough. Here's a guy that's trying to be and you're criticizing him.

I'll admit he's coming strong out the gates, but it shows his enthusiasm.

We all thought it was cool when Doc and Herrion were buddies. It's a lot better than being adversarial which is usually the case. They're competing for funding.

Now he has been here for 5 minutes and he's already the biggest fan which to some may come off strong.

Still this is what we wanted. As of right now Coach Huff is the antithesis of Doc. Let's just hope he's more Bob Pruett and less Ron Jirsa.

more time recruiting.

That's exactly what he's doing.

HS coaches, and the relationships they have with college coaches, play an instrumental role in recruiting.

I'm not one for all the "ra-ra" stuff that goes on sometimes, but there's nothing wrong with what he's doing.

The only issue I see with it is......you're setting the bar high.

Will he be able to sustain this six months from now? Who knows!

ABSOLUTELY!!!

He's creating excitement for the program in everyone he speaks too!!! Hell he had Jim Rome highly impressed and so pumped up to the point Rome wanted to suit up in Kelly and White himself. This just from a 15 minute chat basically.

Toss in ONLY the NEW season ticket deposit sales numbers and its clear he's accomplishing his mission to create that "want" in his "brand" of MU football.

Exactly. He's coming on real strong and the wins need to match the hype. He is talking a big game right now. I love his attitude, but at some point he's going to have to cash all the check's that his word's have been writing.

He's got to do it fast too. Like Huff himself has said so many times, he's not inheriting a bad roster and this isn't a rebuild type situation.

Nonetheless I'm ready now to get back into the Joan to catch me some Huff-ball.

7 days John. Surprised it took you so long.

Welcome to 2021, where the best way to introduce yourself to people in a pandemic is to reach out on social media. He’s reaching out and introducing himself in a public manner. Hopefully that will have people reaching back to him and they can create the relationships needed for this program to excel.

The man has been here a week, and he’s hit the ground running, including building his staff. He couldn’t possibly have done more. Not only do I want Marshall to succeed, I want HIM to succeed. It’s an exciting time. You should let him hold a practice before you criticize what he does with his day.

We need this for our program. I like that he is trying to establish a relationship with WV coaches and Kids. Neal Brown has been all over it lately and it’s paid off for him. It will pay off the Huff as well. Kudos Coach.

I think this is a little over-critical. Reaching out and establishing relations with local high schools is 100% in the job description of what he should be doing.

Not to mention, high school coaches are often community leaders. If they have a high opinion of MU that will filter out through their program and community.

He recognizes that MU needs an infusion of interest an enthusiasm outside of cabell Putnam and Wayne counties.

I think this is well worth 10 minutes of off-seasontime, and I hope he keeps it up.

I nominate this for worst post of the year so far. Huff is doing exactly what he should be doing by reaching out to WV high school coaches.

WV has had many kids over the last decade who have escaped both Marshall and wvu. Building the relationship early is critical. More, the better you can get in and promote your program to the state means the more high school coaches will push their teams/kids to go to Marshall camps. That means more revenue and more opportunity for Marshall's coaches to get in the door early with recruits.

It takes five minutes to think of what you want to say in a Twitter video and have somebody record it and post it for you. Your comment that he should spend more of his time recruiting more instead of this type of video is foolish. Social media, including video tweets to high school coaches, is a huge part of recruiting. In fact, when Urban Meyer would grade his coaches each season, a big part of the grade would be social media interaction and presence. Further, coaches still are not allowed to be visiting/recruiting kids in person due to NCAA rules with Covid. What they can actually be doing regarding recruiting is interacting on social media.

If you want to be critical of Huff, be critical of so many of his hires not having an Instagram account and/or not being active on it. Having Instagram (and to a lesser extent Twitter or SnapChat) is essential to recruiting, and hiring guys without that presence is dumbfounding.

In his press conference he talked about dominating the ring(5 he radius for recruiting) and building relationships. He completing the mission by saying these things. Remember this also helps when you want players to “come home” who maybe thought they found greener pastures out of state.
Clearly this message is for Eastern-Panhandle coaches.

There is nothing wrong about having open arms...and also making it clear that his arms are open.

Negativity is thick; couch coaches. Coach Huff is bringing Herd Football into the modern era, we were somewhere in 1982 before. All programs and coaches have a huge presence on social platforms and our PR is ever lacking.

Recruit who he needs, it’s his job on the line.

I agree Island.

Keep your head down, cards close to the cuff, and show your product next fall.

Stop with some of the Social Media antics.

I wouldn't not call them antics. There is nothing wrong with him using social media. It's just the timing of his some of his statements have become unfortunate. At least without all the information, but remember the entire viewing public doesn't have all the information.

I like his videos, but I would prefer he wait until the staff and the roster are completely settled before making public declarations.

The decommitt of Biggs is unfortunate and is probably 100% on the up and up. However it just is unfortunate that it follows the a video of saying how important locals are.

Doesn't he have some compensation incentive tied to attendance as well; truly can't remember.
I believe this is correct. And I believe it’s based on 2019 attendance not 2020 COVID 19 crowd

LOL, OP reads like someone stuck in the 80s. Twitter and IG are how it is done these days. How in the hell can you recruit if you don't speak the kids' language?
Just think about recruiting in, say 1983. Hell, not even sure facsimile was the way a Coach found out which recruits had chosen their school!! If it was, it was that shiny fake paper. Fuzzy Fillez held a bunch of receiving records, Reagan was Prez and Disco died 3 years before.

In order to compete for & win the commitment of 21st century student athletes, you better communicate on their frequency. Huff knows what he’s doing!!

Curious to see if WVU administration somehow gets Mr. Huff's Facebook, Twitter, Cell Phone, etc. deactivated......could it happen.........

As I have stated, and others have stated as well, WVU and its people don't care one iota, or give a singular damn/sh!t/f**k about Marshall.
