I was downtown awhile ago doing some shopping at Glenn's when the Louisville football team pulled into the Pullman Plaza hotel. I am amazed as I did not think teams stayed there anymore as the place has rundown. Also I thought that Marriott or Hyatt bought it but I have seen no renovations going on. I could be wrong. Guess it's just me but I was surprised. Hope they get a positive impression. Good for business in downtown Huntington.

The hotel was sold to Barta Hospitality of Columbus and will be remodeled into a Doubletree, which is an upper middle class Hilton brand.

It will not close while being remodeled and will not put up the Doubletree signs until finished, maybe late fall of next year.

I am surprised Louisville did not fly into Charleston and stay over there. That is the common practice for larger teams. Although by the time you do all the airport ho-ha and drive from CRW, you might as well bus.

LOL where did you want them to stay , Coaches Inn:(

Seriously the choices would be pretty limited when you think about it . guess they could have done the Herd Baseball deal and travel back and forth to Charleston.

Most teams stay in Charleston. Hope the hotel has cleaned up for them. As for Coaches Inn they could have drug dealers and room service!

There I was sitting there eating a junior bacon cheeseburger when I saw two black buses drive by on Rt.10. On the side of each bus was "Louisville Cardinals". Followed by 3 apparently chartered buses. Yes, I think they bused in.

Louisville fan here. I believe I heard on our local sports talk show that the team indeed did bus to Huntington. It's just a 3 hr drive.

Well, in my defense, they are really nice buses. Saw them down at Pullman Plaza and also oddly saw Petrino walking down the street by himself.
