I hope Tae Kinsey doesn’t see this!

Right now he is young, raw, and talented. Time will tell if he is all around good enough for NBA.
Hope he stays four years at MU.

Me too ....not! But that would mean another amazing season for The Herd. I know Whiteside left after freshman season (don’t remember if he was drafted ?), but idk if we have ever had a sophomore showing up on NBA draft boards?
Kid is amazing, fo sho....

Yes, Whiteside was a 2nd round pick at #33.

He needs to stay. Very few MU athletes have left early and been drafted. Look at Peneva. The extra years will help him develop and mature physically and mentally.

hopefully he will not allow some agent to fill his head with mush. It is very hard to get drafted and he will need all 4 years to have a shot

Staying four years actually hurts your chances of getting drafted in the current NBA landscape... Why would an NBA team take a 22-year old when they can take a comparable 18-year old and have four years to develop him?

In this years draft (2019) there were only 3 seniors picked in the first round and 8 in the second round... So only 11 out of 60 picks were seniors. A majority of draft picks nowadays are either "one-and-done's" or "year early" guys that leave after their junior year.

Correct- the NBA drafts on potential more than success. It helps the young ones to leave unfortunately

I based that comment on the last 2-3 players from Marshall who tried to leave early.Worked out for Whiteside but the other guys I am thinking of it didn't work. They did not get drafted and that ended their college career. If he can get drafted I would be happy for him

The problem facing mid-major US collegiate basketball teams today is that there are pro leagues in Europe and Asia that can offer a similar (if not superior) level of competition and development. A player can make $70k - $100k a year plus expenses while focusing exclusively on basketball, versus room and board and tuition, while being distracted by coursework you have no immediate interest in. We're gonna lose that math most of the time.

The sad way to combat that is to find diamond JUCOs in the rough... that what a lot of schools do to compete with the big boys.

I hope for his sake that he makes the right decisions. Selfishly I’d like to see him stay all 4 years, but Elmore was projected even higher, stayed and didn’t get drafted. In retrospect, he should have left after NCAA tourney for his pro career only. It’s a shame that under the current format, it’s better for the player to leave as early as possible. Really hurts colleges.

Elmore was on one of these lists after 2017-18, but even after having a fairly strong senior year (minus the team accolades), he wasn't on anybody's list (much less anybody's board) when it came time for his actual draft. I think sometimes the inclusion of outliers on these lists is done to drive clicks from fans of the teams they hail from.

…………..meister - I should have done a better job of activating the sarcasm mode for the title of this thread! He saw it way before I did! ;)
Danny mentioned it to me at practice yesterday. He said that he and Tae had talked about it and to Tae, it seemed to be just a passing conversation.

Elmore was on the lists, worked out for teams and got better. Yet not drafted. That should give Kinsey all the info he needs. Stay in school, get your degree, mature and get better.

If you are good enough, they’ll draft you.

Agreed, that’s the age old debate about potential vs. production. Elmore’s production was unparalleled, only player in NCAA history... The NBA currently drafts on potential. TK has unlimited potential. I don’t think we see him for four years.
