I was sitting behind the team, one row away from the field at Pittsburgh. I glanced down the sideline to see the teams body language prior to kickoff. I thought it rather wild they exhibited no emotion at all. ZERO. Litton was off by himself and seemed to be focused on taking in what was happening in the game as the 1st quarter got underway, and he remained very focused the entire game. What was extremely disheartening was that half the team was pissed when Pitt took the lead and kept rolling in the first half. The other half? A Herd player (I couldn't figure out exactly who it was),was standing near a WV Trooper and a young Graduate Assistant on the sideline, right in front of me, laughing and joking. A young girl, rather attractive was taunting the team, and the guys kept making faces at her, INCLUDING THE TROOPER AND G.A.! This behavior kept going from the 2nd Quarter until the end of the game. Several other players came over to check her out, and the GA seemed like he had never seen a girl before, the girls dad even commented on how he couldn't understand how the team was making a come back but somehow this group and the GA were only interested in his daughter and her friend.

In contrast, Chris Jackson got ripped by Heater and guess what? HE HAS RESPONDED AND I AM PROUD AS HELL OF THAT KID FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS AND NEVER GETTING DOWN!

During the Charlotte game it seemed like NOBODY gave a damn about pride or winning, and the smiles and hoopla at the end of the game, when losing at home to Charlotte really drove home that HALF this team cares, the other HALF doesn't even have a backbone.

Why are these guys not focused, invested or even interested in the game?

Doc may be just as puzzled by the play of this team as we are, but it is his responsibility to run the show. He gets ONE year to fix this IMO. Like the guy, stand up person, but this is a business.

Legg...his offense has been a well oiled machine at times, but never has the fanbase not questioned him. Why? Many obvious reason that don't need explained, I do not think he should get to stick around, if it takes 3-4 years for a QB to be let loose in his offense we don't have the time for it and neither does any other college team.

Heater, the guy is doing all he can, I see him coaching up the D constantly. He shakes his head when the guys consistently make the mistakes he has educated them on OVER AND OVER. Like I said earlier, Chris Jackson responded and listened and the kids made strides and mark it down he will be one that we remember before he graduates. Heater gets to stay, DOC NEEDS TO LET HIM KEEP HIS STARTERS OR FIND KIDS WITHOUT ISSUES!

Mirabal...really like the guy, not sure what his O line is suffering from, must be a case of big head syndrome. I think he should get one more year to fix his group.

Need a QB coach and a ST coach, Hamrick find the money and lets stop being cheap asses.

Why dose everyone want Legg to get canned when the defense is one of the worst in the country?

In addition to the guys who have been kicked off or opted out, Doc tends to go heavy on props on the defensive side. Not all those guys make it, so you're left with holes. It caught up with Heater this year, but not really his fault IMO.
good post

Heater is the best coach on the staff. Problem is, you can only coach the players available to you. Some of the young guys playing now - particularly the lbs and corners - will get better, but we need some help in the trenches either through the juco ranks or impact freshmen next season. I just dont see our interior getting that much better in the offseason.

I've said this for the last few years. Doc is relying on props to make it and play a huge role. When they don't make it or get booted, it leaves a big void and we lack depth and talent. It happened to Pruett his last two classes as well.

Doc is the special teams coach, and outside of our placekicker, the special teams performance has been very good. We are ranked 16th in the country in special teams efficiency for the record. There truly appears to be a chemistry issue with the players on the team, and it always seems like someone makes a big mistake on just about every play. I don't like to talk about firing people as these are people's careers we are talking about, but we probably need a change at OC and need to get an experienced QB coach. I believe there will be 10 coaching positions allowed starting next season based on some rule changes so there could see a reconfiguration of the staff if a couple of changes are made to maybe include a dedicated QB coach.

I think a lot of the issue with the defense is all the guys on the back half that has left or been kicked off the team. Leggett, Tindal, Lang and Howard to name a few.
We lost 8 highly experienced starters from last years defense and lost 14 experienced players from the 22-man defensive 2-deep. This year's defense has talent but very little experience so they were always going to be a unit that would struggle this season.

Marshall has relied on "props" for far too many years. There have been the exceptions for sure but in the long run , less good than bad.

I would add to include a new Oline coach as well. We really under perform last few seasons in that area.

I'm not so sure it isn't the zone blocking scheme in Legg's offense that is the problem with the OL.

That's true, scheme could be an issue, but there is also an issue of constant missed assignments or getting not push to establish the run.
