Interesting article on Ojeda

I'm not knocking the guy, don't know him, but reading the whole article he sounds just like a more crude version of Trump that is playing the same populous angle. It's interesting to me that people like Extra love this guy and hate Trump.

That dumb hillbilly should tell those fat teachers the reason their health insurance costs so much is because they are unhealthy, and it's not the responsibility of the taxpayers to pay for their gluttony.

I suspect you and your dad feel the same way about paying for coal miner health insurance.

Yeah...maybe they’ll die along with the drug addicts. That’ll certainly relieve society of the terrible burden and drain. Before long you’ll have this perfect society of beautiful people without having to suffer the inhumanity of mingling with the lower life forms. A great place to be with no one to carry your luggage.

Populism would abandon well thought out systems and controls on government in favor of mob rule. It is the enemy of a constitutional republic.

How is a populist candidate running for office within the confines of our constitution a threat to our system and republic? How does the peaceful assembly and grassroot movement exercised within the framework of the first amendment equate to mob rule? It seems to me that all of this is validation of the tenets of our government, not some kind of coup.

His name is spelled "Ojeda" and pronounced "Oh-jed-uh"? Sorry, I can't trust a guy who doesn't know how to pronounce his name. It is "Oh-he-da."

As far as reasons to not like a guy goes, that's certainly one of them.

When having to share power, it looks like validation of government.

When they don't share power, they abandon constitutional government in favor of the will of the majority.

Ojeda and the PEIA thing is a perfect example of the ills of populism.

Not only has he successfully tied a popular teacher walkout to the evil natural gas industry (two things not even remotely related), he's convinced all of you that anyone who opposes his solution is themselves an evil corporatist.

Nevermind that his solution is bad government in action (which robs future legislators of their budgeting power, and undermines the censorial power of the people over their government.)

I'm pretty sure he didn't convince me of any of that.

Ojeda is rightfully against "giving away" our natural resources to people who take the money and run, just like the coal resources. One of the main problems with WV tax revenue is they keep lowering corporate income tax and somehow expect it won't hurt the state's bottom line. The corporate income tax reduction has cost the state $800 million since 2009. It's expected to cost $200 million per year into the near future.

1)Ojeda is not dumb. He was a Major in the Army with combat deployments. I respect that and does seem sincere(from what little I have seen). I can respect that, even though I might disagree.

2)Never misjudge someone's intelligence based on their accent. That is foolish

3)This goes back to another thread. It is inhumane to let a person die. That is not that way we do things. Those people are someone's child, mother, brother, dad, or sister. They are human beings.

It was once common for foreigners coming into the coalfields for work to change the pronunciation and spelling of the names to better fit in. Joe Manchin's family name was originally Mancini.

My dad has always paid for 100% of health insurance premiums of his employees. Unlike your dumb, union-supporting-as-long-as-its-not-you hypocrite ass.

I'm totally in favor of the drug addicts dying. That's the best-case scenario for society. I don't wish ill of the teachers. I think many of them should stop demanding taxpayers pay for their unhealthy lifestyles, though.

Sure he has. That's why the federal government has to step in and pay for coal miners health insurance. Did you ever tell your mom you cared more for your dog than you do her?

What the fvck are you even talking about now, you senile old man? My dad sold his mining company 12 years ago. Now he -- and I -- have an equipment shop where we employ 5 people currently, and who all have private health insurance paid by the company.

The federal government stepped in to pay miners' pensions from union mines that went under 1) because pensions are unsustainable; and 2) because obama killed the coal industry with the EPA. My dad's mines were proudly non-union, so he didn't make ridiculous promises to them that he couldn't keep. They were given a defined benefit contribution plan that they were able to take with them when the coal industry collapsed.

It's actually amazing how little you know about everything.

I'm not talking about your equipment shop, moron. I'm talking about when he had a coal mine. And I'm not talking about pensions, I'm talking about coal miners health insurance. Anyone that says obama killed the coal industry is either a liar or moron, you choose which you are.
