It’s Wednesday. What is the chance

I’d say about 0 at this point. It would be a logistical nightmare if it was a road game, and the same for any team traveling to Huntington. Have to get the equipment there, rooms there, meals, etc, etc. It’s possible, but highly unlikely would be my guess.

I don't have any inside info, but from everything I know about how long it takes to put together travel logistics for 100+ people, not to mention workout a contract, get TV involved, etc... The answer is zero chance.

The only way we play this week is if an opponent is coming to Huntington, by bus, we have a hotel on retainer and the game is not going to be on any media (essentially a self-imposed blackout).

Hopefully MH and staff are working on something for Oct. 3... If we don't hear something about Oct. 3 by this Saturday, that date likely goes by the wayside too.

Chris, what is the holdup? What are you and Stowers hearing? I'm surprised that something
didn't come thought at UNC. According to ESPN, they were willing to beg, borrow, and deal
to get a game this weekend. I'm shocked they didn't get something.

Don't pay attention to the lip service that AD offices give their fan bases... UNC may have been "looking" for a game, but that doesn't mean they were going to make a bad deal to play one. They certainly would not go on the road, or agree to road games in future years. Nor would they want to take a "losable" non-conference game, since they have their highest ranking in decades right now.

Also, as has been stated a hundred times in the last two months in various threads, it takes 7-8 days minimum to get a game together whether you are home or away. That's why we need to be paying attention over the next 72 hours. If we don't hear anything about Oct. 3 by this coming Saturday night, that date probably dies too.

I reading somewhere else, that in order to get into CUSA Championship game you need a min. of 6 conference games. We are there now. One more "Virus" loss, and we could be undefeated; in the Top 25, watching someone we beat go to the Championship game, while we are going to the Bahamas.

Then again, maybe that will light a fire under the powers at be to get us the hell out of the shitty conference.

Possible, but I would assume – even as totally and completely inept as the CUSA office is – if the above scenario played out and lets say we finish 8-0 and 5-0 in CUSA due to virus game cancellations, that the league would waive that requirement.

Also, Ive been reading the UNC board this morning... Their fans have been "told" that UNC reached out to Marshall and Abilene Christian to try to get a game together. MU wanted a return game in Huntington (and UNC wouldn't agree to that) or a huge payoff to come to Chapel Hill. Abiline Christian just flat wanted too much cash.

Take that for what it's worth of course, coming from a fan message board.

If that is true it's very disappointing. Unprecedented times should have some flexibility between wants and needs. A top 25 matchup would have interested media somewhere. We could of had our 3rd game in a row on Nat'l TV. When is the last time that happen? I feel Hamrick could have bit the bullet, and taken it without a return. Normally, NC is not a great return trip. Hell, we had better this year with Boise and Pitt at the Joan. We just need the game and media exposure!

Then again, we just hang round CUSA and Hello Facebook!

I don't know what UNC offered and/or what we counter-offered, no one does... But there is no chance a game thrown together in less than a week would have been on National TV. Maybe the ACC network, at best, and even that is doubtful depending on where their network crews were last week and at the time the game would have been announced. Also, with the SEC starting this week, they are going to fill a bunch of the National TV time slots on CBS, ESPN, SEC Network, etc.

We got lucky for two weeks - MU was the only game anywhere nationwide at noon when we played EKU. Then we were one of very few games featuring a ranked team and no SEC games for the 3:30 CBS time slot. We should be glad we got those opportunities. Now that everyone else is coming back to playing, we will go back to Stadium/Facebook/CBS Sports Network.

I have come to believe that we are ranked as a direct result of being on national TV two weeks in a row. If we had been on Facebook or Stadium, no way all those eyes see us play and no way we are ranked. The exposure was invaluable in many levels. Was nice to see how the better half lives for two weeks.

Ones things for sure, we'll need our A game against WKU after a three week layoff. They'll be ready and hungry, we'll get their best shot.

I agree with that in regards to playing on real television... One thing is for certain, no matter what platform we are on the rest of the season, we have already had our best media exposure year in a long time. Now the key is to keep winning. The longer MU keeps winning, the more weeks our highlights make Sportcenter and other national programs.

Operative words to keep in mind, RhinoD, are "completely inept". They come into play quite frequently when CUSA is the subject of discussion!!

Doc was on Jim Rome a couple of days ago and said he is still hopeful for an October 3rd game. I think that train has left the station at this point.

I would think the absolute latest something could get put together for Oct. 3 would be tomorrow... If we wake up Sunday morning with no announcement, then Oct. 3 is probably off the table.
