It's 2 and 10. Let's run up the middle.

last week on my timehop (an app that brings back social media posts, pictures, memories from the same day years prior) was a facebook post where i expressed frustration in running up the middle on 2 and 10 every single time. that was from 4 years ago.

please save the "oh yea - then why aren't you the offensive coordinator if your so smart" responses, i'm simply just, again, expressing frustration that this tradition of running up the middle on second and ten every single time is perhaps a touch predictable.

teams know it's coming - and it shows. it has been the most annoying thing about watching our offensive every game the last several years and am shocked we continue to do it.

We run on second down 90% of the time regardless of the yardage. It is very predictable. If u can go back and watch the last two games. Everyone in our section was yelling RUN!! Or Here comes the RUN!!!

Agreed - but looking at how we were 1-11 on third down conversions last game, being in long third down from these predictable runs on second and 10 has a lot to do with it. so far this season our third down conversion percentage has been awful. Granted, there's a lot of factors attributed to that but, not giving ourselves a chance with these runs has got to be up there.

against usm, in the first 3 quarters we ran 7 times on 2nd down and threw the ball 6 times on 2nd down (one scramble by chase on a drop back). once the game was out of reach for usm, we ran the ball all 3 times on 2nd down in the 4th quarter (not counting the kneel down by chase to end the game).

against ODU in the first 3 quarters we ran 11 times on 2rd down and threw 11 times on 2rd down. we ran all 3 times on 2nd down in the 4th quarter when the game was out of reach.

Good info. It kind of dispels the argument being made.

just to clarify, against usm it was 8 runs vs 7 passes on 3rd down, that's counting the one chase threw downfield when they were offsides, i missed the run that followed that play.
