JJ/BP/MB

Im not trying to be anti old guy here... But BP will be 78 years old when fall practice opens and hasn't recruited anyone in close to two decades.

I have no opinion of Bartrum either way... He is an NFL assistant coach, still relatively young at 50, has an NFL pedigree. He might be great, or he might be Snyder 2.0.

If the search committee is a sham, and it's certainly looking that way from the outside, that is disappointing on multiple levels.

If this is even close to true, it would be the worst string of events in Marshall football history, not involving the crash. Worse than Snyder, Marcum, etc. Hell, you might as well bring back KO and just get the death spiral complete. I would hope those in power at Marshall couldn't be bribed into such an arrangement. But I guess we were when the Gibsons ponied up money to get Snyder hired.

It's Marshall - as usual, their own worst enemy.

I don't believe this and hope it doesn't happen. Bartrum has no coaching experience at the college level. So what he is coaching TE in the NFL, more to the game than coaching tight ends. He may be a great guy and was a good player for the Herd but should not be on the list for a head coaching position. Maybe as an assistant but not head coach.

Mike Bartrum is an all around good guy. That being said this to me feels maybe a worse Idea than hiring Snyder when we did. Hopefully this isn't accurate. We need to move away from former players and find a new and younger coach to bring some excitement to the program.

All that said, and I agree, I would love to have Mike end up on the staff here in some capacity. He's a solid guy that commands respect and knows his stuff.
