And of course the left is talking about what a tragedy this is, to boo this poor child who is just trying to be normal. Newsflash: when you're a biological female and think you're a man, you're never going to be "normal." But regardless of that, when you're taking testosterone and competing against girls, it's not cool at all. Hell, it could be argued that it's not fair to be on testosterone and competing against boys.

She will never be a he but since she is taking male hormones and wants to wrestle boys let her

Screwed up world. Gender confusion. This country is so hosed. Men today act like a bunch of pansies. Women want to be men and women lead their men around by their nut sacks. This is why the world is so damn screwed up.

Guess we’ll just need more divisions...

Oh my buckeye not going along with whatever his party stands for. Figured he would lay his life down for transgender. Those poor fools suffer from mental problems and need help.We should help them

First, he is taking a low dose of testosterone. If you think a low dose is a significant advantage in wrestling - a sport where technique, speed, endurance, and heart reign supreme - then you clearly have no idea about the sport.

Second, he has tried wrestling boys. He has petitioned to wrestle boys. He keeps getting denied.

He has no other choice but to do what the Texas High School Athletic rules make him do.

Probably should have been wrestling the boys, agree.

Though if we’re going to ignore chromosomes to divide the competition then I have no clue what the best metric to use would be.

Yeah, but then that opens the door for allowing boy-to-girl trans kids wrestling girls.

And yes, I believe a low dose (low according to whom? what's the dose?) of testosterone given to a girl wrestling against girls would provide a significant advantage. It's why doping is outlawed in sports.

SHE doesn't have a dick nor a Y chromosome. She will NEVER be a he. Just because she wants to be called a he doesn't make it so.

And dems claim to be the party of science

Hell yes, testosterone therapy would give a female physical advantages over other females. And transgenders aren't typically given low dose therapy, as they wouldn't see the desired effects, such as facial hair, deepened voice, and, here's the big one, increased muscle mass.

Girls high school wrestling really? When did that come about?

It’s a growing sport for girls. There are 5 girls on my club in Connecticut, 1 of which is a 5 time state champion and a 5 time New England champion. She wrestles against boys also and beats the brakes off them. She hammered the 12 year old NY State champion 9-0 this season at 112 pound class

Someone may want to search her jock to make sure she's not hiding Captain Winky in there.

According to whom? Your fvcking source. Don't post a source if you don't like that it states information that doesn't fit your argument.

A low dose wouldn't give a significant advantage in high school athletics.

SHE doesn't have a dick nor a Y chromosome. She will NEVER be a he. Just because she wants to be called a he doesn't make it so.

If the person wants to be called a "he" bad enough that he will alter the chemistry of his body, have operations, etc., then I have no issue with calling them what they want.

If you want to be called an athletic trainer for children instead of a child masseuse, I will call you that. I won't stop calling you a moron though.

Oh, so you know how much testosterone he is getting? Strange. The source used states otherwise, but you somehow know how much he is getting.

Have you been introduced to Raleigh's experts on this topic who he meets with daily?

Though if we’re going to ignore chromosomes to divide the competition then I have no clue what the best metric to use would be.

I suggest looking into the Caster Semenya case with the Olympics, what the courts ruled, and the propositions.

Semenya is an intersex who competes as a female. She, like others born intersex, has traits of both sexes.

To rifles point, testosterone is not much if any advantage in wrestling. Technique, endurance, speed are the common denominators.

You're so angry. The article didn't provide an actual source or dosage. We don't know if it is an actual low dose or not.

But to claim that fvcking testosterone wouldn't give an advantage in wrestling may be the dumbest thing you've ever said, and that's saying a lot. Jesus.

The source regarding how much testosterone this girl is taking is either her mother or herself. An article from the Denver Post says, "He’s still taking testosterone, which his mother said are just strong enough to create a wisp of facial hair and stop the menstrual cycle but not build muscle." Riiigght.

I guess we should just take their word for it?

You're retarded if you don't think testosterone would give a wrestler (or any athlete in any sport) a physical advantage over their opponent. She's taking this magic potion that makes her stronger, faster, leaner with more endurance, but it doesn't give them an advantage.

You’re right I’m retarded even though I’m a coach of the sport and still wrestle in opens and have been involved in the sport for 35 years. I tell you what, get jacked up on some PED of your choice and meet me on the mat, moron

Whoa, whoa, whoa.....there's enough testosterone going around ITT to make even Mack Beggs blush.

You're not making an apples to apples comparison here. If a male wrestler takes low dose steroids, does he have any athletic advantage over another male wrestler the same age and weight class? Of course he does, otherwise there wouldn't be a ban on using them in pretty much all organized sports.

Sure there's the argument that skill, speed and endurance are huge factors in wrestling, but strength is an important factor as well. If two wrestlers are paired up with similar skill and speed level (which happens often) any other variables will impact his/her ability to win, namely strength.

The article said it was a "low dose." Now, this was your source. As I said, if you don't like what your source states, then I recommend using a different source.

But to claim that fvcking testosterone wouldn't give an advantage in wrestling may be the dumbest thing you've ever said, and that's saying a lot. Jesus.

I don't fault you for your failure in reading comprehension. I fault your wvu education.

I didn't say testosterone wouldn't give an advantage in wrestling. Stop using straw men. I said that a low dose wouldn't give a significant advantage to high schoolers in a sport where technique, endurance, heart, and speed are far more important factors.

. . . "and that's saying a lot" says the guy who struggles comprehending what he reads and whom insisted that his fellow deplorables would never vote in a guy named Barack Hussein Obama.

Oh, so not only do we throw discard the information from his own damn source, but now we are psychics who know exactly who the source was . . . it couldn't have been the coach who knows the amount, an athletic director who did due-diligence and talked to doctors/experts about the impact that dosage would have, an athletic trainer at the school, etc. It was definitely the mom or son, right?

With that much clairvoyance, I can't believe you aren't able to tell us the exact amount he takes every day.

Who knows what a journalist or even a doctor considers a “low dose.” I personally feel exogenous hormones in minors is nothing to scoff at, but endocrinologists who deal with this may consider it a trivial amount.

A therapeutic dose to change the phenotype of a female to a male doesn’t sound “low” to me though. I do believe it would give this person a competitive advantage when facing other females. It’s tough to say whether it would be “significant “ or not.

I’ll have to look at that case, rifle.

Intersex may have some traits or chromosome abberations that may make it very murky as to what is best to do here. There is a wide range from intersex to that of kids or adults just declaring themselves opposite sex without any objective finding suggesting this may be the case. I don’t know about this particular case here in this wrestler though.

I think girls wrestling is cool. I’d be fine with my daughter participating as long as cutting weight isn’t getting out of hand - that could wreak havoc on a young ladies hormones and even long term bone mineral density.

I appreciate you weighing in, Doc, but your thoughts don't hold much water around these parts. You see, this board is full of mostly deplorables. These are the same types who disregard the overwhelming number of scientists on climate control, who disagree with the overwhelming amount of research/regulation that factor in vaccines, who ignore historical and scientific facts regarding their religious beliefs . . . yet you think they are going to listen to some guy who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and many years studying medicine? Pfft! It ain't talk about no testosterone in the Bible, so what do you know?

He’s not arguing that. It’s not a testosterone addled untrained person versus a natural trained...Given two athletes both train , the one on the juice can recover faster , put themselves in an anabolic state more often, and this often train longer and reap more benefits not only from a muscle mass standpoint but from a technique standpoint as well.

There’s s reason they test for it.

On a different note, have you ever heard of Congenital generalized lipodystrophy (also known as Berardinelli–Seip syndrome)? It is very rare; only about 1 in 10 million people have it. One of the kids I have invited out to become a "teammate" at a game has it. She is currently in the hospital on a ventilator due to all of the organ issues that take place from having the disease. But she was a football player and is currently a big wrestler (she travels around the country to compete in national level events).

The disease voids her body of almost all fat, so she looks like a professional bodybuilder even at her young age.

And there is a reason why there is an allowance for a pretty broad range of testosterone in a person's body in tests. Because of such a wide range, "passports" have been introduced over the years to keep track of the testosterone in each individual's body. Person A may have a high natural amount of testosterone in the body while Person B doesn't. The passports keep track of this to look for any jumps in a person.

Why do they need the passports? Because of the wide range that is accepted in drug tests that are considered "passes." In other words, a "low dose" wouldn't amount to a significant advantage in high school competition considering a low dose could simply bump a person with low natural amounts into a person with high natural amounts who is still within the passing range.

But you'll have to ask ML and Murox about how much the low dose actually is, because they are refuting their own source without actually having an answer.

Last time I heard of it was buried in a medical school textbook. Definitely never seen anyone with it.

Passports is a good policy. Definitely a range for “normal” and an individual person can fluctuate a bit based on diet, stress, and even time of day sampled

Do you think this wrestlers (?presumably xx) passport would have thrown red flags from pre testosterone to post? Even if on a “low dose” the endogenous testosterone level for an average XX female isn’t high. Even if they put her/him on levels to get her to the low range of normal for a boy that’s still probably statistically and clinically significant bump in test.

We can speculate all we want though, unless you have the levels none of us can say much definitively.

To use a baseball analogy. Switch hitter.

I take back that I said rifle has money given to him. I don't know a thing about that and its none of my business. I wont say hail rifle yet but will say I'm sorry. Its working if you follow me
I feel calmer
Thank you God

maybe Marine is retarded if he thinks an experienced wrestler beating a non wrestler on testosterone proves his point.
