Kids walking out nationwide

You cons really love the first amendment as long as you agree with the content of what's being said, otherwise you incessantly whine about it.
I have no issue with the first amendment. The issue is walking out of school. And, he stated the principal gushing over it.

This is about doing things in their proper time and place. This is about following the rules. This is about understanding that in the real world, sometimes you can’t do what you want, when you want, how you want. Sometimes there are consequences for your actions in the real world, even if they aren’t harming me or themselves.
I understand that isn’t the fantasyland you reside in.

With your line of thinking, we's still be paying taxes to the English. You don't get to decide what the proper time and place is. You wanting them to do it on the weekend is nothing more than an attempt to silence them. If no one notices a protest, it accomplishes nothing.

How ironic. The English are the reason we have the 2nd amendment.

OK genius, so tomorrow if students decide their lunches suck and are going to walk out. Is that acceptable?
And, I do get to decide when is the proper time and place when it affects my child. Remember, these are children. MINORS, not adults. My child's time in the classroom was disrupted. The school system is charged with providing my child with instruction and supervision when they are entrusted with their presence. The school system failed today to uphold their end of the deal. Today wasn't about revolting against a king, it was play time for those that participated in the walkout at my child's school. You haven't seen the videos, you didn't hear the principal, your child didn't share with you about the teachers that encouraged the students to follow the crowd, so you should shut the fvck up.
Wanting the CHILDREN to "protest" on their own time has nothing to do with silencing them. They can stand out front before school or after school all they want. It should not interfere with my child's day of school. You are way off base and clueless because you have no point of reference to this specific topic.

I think I would be more of a freedom fighter.

Some guy: "Hey wanna dump some tea in the harbor tonight to show the king we ain't happy about the taxes without representation?"

herodman: "No, there's a proper time and place for protests. Let's do it so no one notices it."

First of all you are equating to student protesting gun violence and walking out to the Boston Tea Party. Ok.

Here is you: King of England: "Turn in your muskets"

Greed: "Ok, sire!"

Is it illegal?

And, I do get to decide when is the proper time and place when it affects my child.

No, you don't. See today's walkout. They did it without your permission.

Remember, these are children. MINORS, not adults.

Yes, the majority of them are. And they're getting murdered.

My child's time in the classroom was disrupted.

Was your child's time ever "disrupted" during school hours to watch a sporting event?

The school system failed today to uphold their end of the deal.

I'm for the kids being taught to stand up for themselves.

Most of that is your OPINION. And no, I'm not shutting up.

Yes, it does. You don't get to determine the best time for someone else's protest.

1. Is it illegal for a child to go to the restroom without permission? Can the child be disciplined for doing so?

2. I already have a meeting scheduled with the Principal and Asst. Superintendent tomorrow. I'm going to venture a guess that what happened today will not happen in the same fashion in the near future (at least at my child's school). All that needs to be thrown at them is the liability they exposed the school system to today. If something would have happened during this "protest", they are on the hook - big time.

3. To pull a response out of BC's hat - so are millions of unborn babies and you aren't championing that cause to stop that.....

4. No. My child has never had a disruption to watch a sporting event. That may go on in Wayne County, but there have been zero school-time games/events at her middle school.

5. Teach them about standing up for themselves. Spend an entire class detailing what both sides of this issue are about. Allowing them to go out and make Snap videos and taking selfies taught them nothing.

6. Exactly what portion of the following is opinion? "You haven't seen the videos, you didn't hear the principal, your child didn't share with you about the teachers that encouraged the students to follow the crowd, so you should shut the fvck up."
