Season 4 of House of Cards is pretty dead-on about using social media and internet search engines to manipulate votes...
If you need a social media site to tell you your political leanings then you should not be allowed to vote
If having a brain was required to vote the majority of Democrats would be disqualified.

i don't think the "take away" here is Facebook telling you what your political leanings are... rather that Facebook tracks your leanings and then has the power to dictate content delivered to you.
i have a couple of very close friends on Facebook. i see every post/comment that they make immediately pop-up in my "feed". when they "share" conservative things (especially related to guns) it is nowhere to be found. they have confirmed the same thing about things i post.
Facebook and Google both took heat for "manipulating" content and search results during the primaries. the mainstream media has also been manipulating coverage for years to drive agendas. now we live in a time where they can specifically tailor that coverage to an individual. how many easily persuaded "drones" to you think exist in a population of 320 million?

They have me as conservative. Probably because I am pro-Second Amendment and I liked Trump's page (for the same reason I follow him on Twitter, it's a hoot). I usually "like" the state Republican ads with a laughing face; I guess FB doesn't realize that means I think that ad is bullshit.
Here's something weird: they have a tracker for Civil War! Mine says Union. I don't think I have ever liked any page about the Civil War. Maybe I liked a page about Lincoln.
