Instead Ms. DeVos would provide students with more data about all of the nation’s higher education institutions — not just career and for-profit college programs — including debt, expected earnings after graduation, completion rates, program cost, accreditation and other measures.

“Students deserve useful and relevant data when making important decisions about their education post-high school,” Ms. DeVos said in a statement. “That’s why instead of targeting schools simply by their tax status, this administration is working to ensure students have transparent, meaningful information about all colleges and all programs. 1. Zero federal loan money to for profit colleges

2. Schools must publish loan indebtedness rates for all of their graduates, specific to major. Must also publish loan balances at five and 10 years post graduate and the yearly salaries of graduates at 5 and 10 years post grad. If you can’t get this data within reason your public federal loan money is capped.

It’s time to give the schools some skin in the game and get simple data that even a first generation college kid can understand.

Honestly we should do away with federal financial aid for all for-profit institutions. This should be done along with strengthening our community colleges for training in skilled positions. Frankly it is a national security issue, if you believe trade war for manufacturing is a national security issue (and I do).

I agree and trump and congress reauthorizing/strengthening the Perkins act was a good thing. I’m not sold on the admin trying to combine dept of labor and education but I understand their rationale for wanting to do it, beyond smaller govt
