Looks like Rice and UTEP are trying to leave CUSA

Honestly don't think it will be bad in the long run. Would be in interesting thought if we could pull the top of the Mac teams into a merger . Let the sun belt clean up the rest. let the Dominos fall!

UTEP makes perfect sense, Rice is the "come along for the Texas / Houston TV hopeful" team. I'm sure the MWC would love to have two Texas teams for recruiting purposes.

Agreed on staying at 12. No reason to add, however I'd go after ARMY and Ga Southern if we wanted 2 more teams. Still if we drop to 12 and could stay close to old revenues from TV it really wouldn't matter.

If they do exit it changes the conference from a Texas based to an eastern based flavored conference.

New commish, new confernce, move the headquarters to Florida! I'll say this, the new commish has her work cut out for her. The TV deal expires next year, I hope she's in front of it.

UTEP makes perfect sense, to get out there is a crazy long flight. I hate to see RICE go, and for that matter UTEP too.

It they leave, and if CUSA wants to stay at 13 or 14 schools, I say go after the top 3 schools in the Sun Belt. They fit the league geography.

I wouldn't mind seeing App State and Arkansas State in this league to replace these two teams if it actually comes to that. I aside you mean Ga Southern as third?

Speaking of Georgia Southern they just lost their coach to Tulane. GSU is a Great program with great tradition in South Georgia. I like them as our add due to the old Southern Conference History we had with them, plus it's a 3 hour drive for me, lol.

I like Army becuase it's a nationally known program, which we are too as a G5, so its a good sell. One can also argue it is in the USAs largest media market greater NYC which helps CUSA sell media rights.

Army is 2-9. they lost to Fordham... they have had ONE winning season since 1996... ONE........

we need Army in this conference just like we need another round of mediocre FCS schools or guys that didn't even have a football program 10 years ago........

we need addition by subtraction

UTEP makes sense. It is in the Mountain Time Zone, and very far to the west of all of the other Texas members. It was an old WAC member and belongs in the MWC.

Rice is a fanless nothing. It is behind even Houston in delivering the Houston TV market (where Texas and Texas A&M are 1 and 1-A, and everybody else is battling for the scraps). Don't let the screen door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.

Nobody gives 2 shits about Army football in NYC. There are about 2 hours north and not in the NYC Market

Yes, I meant Georgia Southern.

Unless you want to pursue South Alabama and maybe get the GoDaddy.com Bowl back to CUSA. Or Georgia State gets you into the Atlanta media.

I'm guessing the only reason you leave Georgia Southern for Tulane is money.

Ga. State is NOT ready people. Not.

So NYC doesn't care about Army or UConn even though both are 90 minutes north, yet we are watching only 1 D1 game nationally televised today and one of the teams is.....ARMY.

I don't care they are 2-9, in time they recover. Navy is a great G5 team now, Army can become one too.

bbye bye,,way too far away anyway. Why not get a few college teams from austraila? lol I wont be happy until we are in a leauge east of the mississippi. Always has seemed stupid to join leauges with teams far away and teams we are nothing about. Go east boys go east.ACC or AAC OR ASS if its closer. WV at least makes millions traveling so far.

UCONN is about 2 hours northeast of NYC and are in the Hartford Market NOT the NYC Market

Army is in the Newburgh/Poukepskie Market once again NOT NYC. I live here and not only do people barely care about college football Nobody really cares about Army football. Rutgers is closer and even they barel get coverage in the NYC market

Appy State

Not bad, but I wonder if OU will maintain the success they've had in football once Solich either croaks on the job or retires. Historically they haven't been much more than a basketball school.

Still yet, that would be amazing for the fanbase to travel.

Ohio makes sense because we will play them every year regardless. that would free up an OOC spot for a P5 (hopefully).

Florida schools obviously for recruiting

This isn't 1940. Army sucks and they'll always suck. They'd be a bad 1-AA team.

I like this, but there is no chance we kick out Charlotte, UTSA or N. Texas... So put App. State and Charlotte in the North and leave UTSA and N. Texas in the South.
I kick out FIU if I was to kick someone out. Doesn't seem they are doing anything to start the next phase of their stadium.

Rice won the football crown 2 years ago.

They are a perennial power in baseball with a National Championship in 2003.

Baseball titles aside, football is the driving force in sports. College baseball brings little money, so it gets little consideration in the grand scheme of things.

I think there's a myth that we need Florida teams to recruit well in Florida. Dino Babers has recruited quite well out of Florida (18 FL players by my count on BGSU's roster) despite playing in a conference that doesn't go south of Athens.

FAU and FIU are teams I don't want to be in a conference with.

I've always been surprised that Villanova isn't 1A/FBS level. Philly is a big city, PA produces a ton of high school talent, Temple is only now becoming a respectable team and program.

In Army's defense they lost 7 games this year by 7 points or less.. Idk what the make up of their roster looks like, but if they are a young team then maybe they are about to turn the corner.

I'm with you.. I'd like to keep Rice, not to mention their Academic profile is good for CUSA as well.. I don't understand people who are saying things like "they both suck".. I mean it was JUST two years ago that they took US to the woodshed and won a conference title in doing so

ONE winning season since 1996...... that's one hell of a corner if they are in fact turning it.......... lol
