On a roll for 2017 - this was at a memorial service for another shooting victim...now its not safe to mourn the dead as you might become one , dead person and not a mourner.

Seriously, I imagine there are already numerous federal task forces operating in Chicago. FBI is often involved in gang investigations, you got the ATF investigating the gun trade, the DEA on the dope side, US Marshals chasing down people.

I am a big believer that more police is better in any high crime area, but at the same time every police cheif says they need more funding and more cops. You can't jail your way out of something like this, it is a poverty and culture thing. I think the poverty is easier to fix than the culture, too. Some of these punks today will shoot someone in front of the police, they just don't give a fvck. We had a shooting here a couple years ago, two gang members killed, the cops and media were there and the usual crowd gathered wailing and crying and shit, then someone else started shooting right in front of the cops and TV cameras. That's the kind of crazy we are dealing with.
Lock them up and throw away the key. Let them kill each other in a controlled area. They are no different than ISIS, never going to be contributors in the world. Indoctrinated to hate, nothing will change that. Isolate them, it will take care of itself. They need off the streets of Chicago and any city.

The US Attorney General, and remember Trump is the chief law enforcement official in the USA as President, can go in and start handing down stricter sentences on these felons using guns.
The US Attorney General can look into whether the mayor or local enforcement are committing fraud, waste abuse, and if they are harboring criminals.
Trump could take over the local law enforcement if they are corrupt or in violation of law. See new Orleans.
That is what he can do without even sending in federal police or military.

No, it's the spin of economics. People demand dope, so someone is going to supply it. More often than not, that's going to be a gang. Jail all the gang members and you create a vacuum that someone will fill with a new gang to sell the dope.
No that is not happening. The gang bangers are shooting people and killing them. That means they are felons and can't have guns. They use a gun in a crime and Illinois is sending them to jail for a few years. Then, released. Murder is a state crime. however, using a gun is a federal crime.

Chicagos problem is a multi-generational problem. It cant and wont be fixed over night. And coming in and just locking up everyone definitely wont fix shit either.
Investing in Education, job training, and community centers is a beginning.
Also getting the CIA out of the drug game is a start as well but there is too much money to be lost for the government.

And let's say he doesn't use it now, knowing the crowd he ran with and where he went when he was younger he most certainly has used the stuff. Drugs know no socioeconomic boundary, poor, rich middle class all have drug users. The rich can better hide it, because they have the cash to not be desperate and can use their power and influence to not get busted.
Hell, one of the most powerful industries in the nation created the latest drug epidemic. I never thought I would see the day fvcking heroin was the drug of choice with the middle class.
The demand for mind-altering substances is as old as civilization itself, and probably older. We can treat those who are addicted, and that would be a huge help in fighting crime, but the demand and desire is always going to be there. Even animals like to get high, deer will eat the buds off pot plants. What we could do is legalize and regulate drugs, take the crime syndicates right out of business. It has worked with alcohol, no one shoots anyone for a keg of beer.
Then Fed all of them. That still won't stop the economics that lead to gang activity.
Do you think it is a coincidence Huntington has all those Detroit drug dealers? Detroit has lost a shit ton of jobs. A lot of those dealers would have been working at GM back in the day.
That's true, too. And don't forget the private prisons, the police and corrections unions, etc. There's a lot of hands in this cookie jar we call illegal drugs. It employees a lot of people.
All those dealers USED to work at GM, FORD, and Chrysler until the jobs started getting shipped overseas and the drugs come in and the education went to the suburbs.
