The ATHLETIC PROGRAM does not. The University certainly does receive state funding.

are you so simple minded that you can't see how west virginia university being propped up and largely supported by taxpayer dollars for a century plus would put wvu athletics in a position to rely very little on state money* to fund the athletics department?
* except you never whenever wvu needs to build a new facility, then they're asking for state dollars.

Let them continue their slide into anonymity in the lowest rated P5 conference whose members are half a continent away. I agree, schedule them in nothing. Why give them a statewide showcase in anything, let their fans continue to enjoy home games with Liberty and road games against 1-AA opponents.

That means they will again upset a #1 in 2049.
But, of course, when this season, like every other WVU season ever, ends in defeat, the fixated Spamites will be here to say "But Marshall ..." It is all they have. It is all they can think about. Total fixation.
Hate to say it but I'm for the series going back to home and home. Never liked the CC thing. Although they never beat us in 5 tries in Huntington Im certain they see the benefits of travel , selling their presence in Huntington.

I will say I do LOVE our current direction with 2 ACC teams on our sked in 16. I think by now we should follow VTs Pitt, and all the ACC teams leads and completely quit ever playing west va. Too many BAD variables to justify the risk.
Let's continue to build, schedule ACC and AAC teams and worthy G5s and forget the drunken idiots. Maybe one day the ACC might invite Marshall into the conference if we distance ourselves from west va. In every way.
