This may be the worst FBS defense we've played this year. FIU and North Texas have similar metrics. So offensively, this should be a game where we can really stretch our legs either running it or throwing it.
Charlotte's offense is similar to 2019, Reynolds is going to run around and play backyard style football and hope to find DuBose and Tucker uncovered. The good news is neither their OLine or their backfield are as stout as they were in 2019. Finally Benny Lemay used up his 8th year of eligibility. If we can be gap sound and set the edge on defense it's going to make Charlotte one dimensional and we should be able to get after Reynolds. To my dyeing day I'll probably still see Reynolds running that keeper around the end on Couch & Hodge with the pulling guard leading the way and us never setting the edge in 2019. :(
This game will have the narrative as much of 2021, if we maintain ball security and play fundamental football on defense we should beat these guys without much suspense. We're significantly better on both sides of the ball.
