Marshall vs. Pittsburgh Tickets starting at $10

My new job has me flying into pittsburg to visit a plant every 3 to 4 weeks I think I will make the last week in sept a plant visit week. LOL

If you have watched a Pitt game recently, you see tickets are not hard to come by. Next year has a quirk thrown in. They are playing Penn State. PSU fans are clearly buying season tickets and dumping the remainder on the secondary market. Pitt is asking $100 for PSU tickets, but has the other games as low as $15. Actually $10 if you buy 8 or more.

There is no reason MU cannot have nearly the majority of fans. $10 tickets. Nice drive.

P.S. Remember Spamites, even though the team is so fanless that it it virtually giving away tickets, the ACC still chose it over you. That is how unimportant you are in the great scheme of things.

Thanks Sam. Marshall will FINALLY get its wish that day, the whole state rooting for them!

Wait until game day. You will be able to buy tickets for $3 and sit wherever you want. Since it is not a home game don't waste your money buying tickets pre-sale. There won't be 30,000 for this game.

I bought 5 in section 135 (behind our bench) row K for $50 each. Since they are virtually 50 yard line tickets I thought that was a fair deal.

I'd speculate 50k for this game. Marshall will bring 15k alone IF we are undefeated going up there.

It's sad though a former west Va. u rival and ACC school still without their own stadium. I guess the powerfull former big East really wasn't all that in reality.

Lol! First, I doubt there will be 22,000 at the game. Depending on how Pitt starts the season, they will be lucky to have 15,000 fans show up for a game with Marshall. Pitt fans are band wagon fans and Steelers fans. A game with Marshall won'the generate much buzz.

I can't see Marshall taking 15,000 fans to Pittsburgh. I figure 5-7,000 fans is more realistic even if Marshall (in your words) is the Notre Dame of G5 schools.

Marshall never brought more than 5,000 to Morgantown, ever. Most years it was closer to 2,000. Pittsburgh is another hour's drive each way. There won't be more than a couple thousand Herd fans make that drive, at best, no matter how cheap are the tickets.

The Backyard Brawl (i.e. the kids who were thin-enveloped by Pitt rooting like heck that their safety school can beat where their home town school) is over. Pitt was SELECTED to move up to the ACC and left the Spamies behind. WVU's rival now is Iowa State. Or is it Kansas? Or Texas Christian. The three hour layover at ORD Brawl.

Actually, I think the Herd brings more to Pitt, maybe more similar to the 97 wvu game or other games with power conference schools. I was very disappointed in Herd fans not going to Motown, but if you recall, many swore it off after horrible treatment in 97, and the first year in Motown (06??) and the attendance by herdfans shrunk to a pathetic level after that. I went to all except 97, and even give wvu credit for improving their fan behavior, but the damage was done, many or most don't want to go back or have anything to do with morganhole.

I would say about 10,000 Marshall fans once they find out how cheap tickets will be

You do know that Pitt will resume playing Penn State and West Virginia in the future don't you? Regardless of your feelings for WVU, college football fans understand the Pitt/WVU game is one of college football's most missed rivalries.

You are correct that the ACC chose Pitt and not WVU in their most recent realignment. North Carolina schools have vetoed WVU joining that conference since it was first formed. I still believe that is where WVU lands once that last big realignment takes place.

I don't doubt that the Pitt/wvu game is a known rivalry game...but one of the most missed in college fb nationally is probably overstating in a bit. a lot.

Pitt will play WVU four time in the distant future. And?

Hardly the same as renewing a "rivalry". And, of all the rivalries killed by realignment, probably not in the top 10. First was, obviously, Texas A&M by moving up to the SEC and leaving Texas behind.

The whole "backyard brawl" deal was mostly a one-sided deal Pitt was much more interested in Penn State, of course. WVU's out of state student body, most of whom were thin envelopes from Pitt back in the 60s and 70s, obviously were butthurt at being rejected by their first choice.

it always seemed odd to me to see the empty seats when games were at Pitt...............great rivalry? well, to the wvu fans it is.

Sammi.....on point as usual vis a vis WVU.

Pitt vs WVU a Top 10 rivalry? NO WAY!

That rivalry ranking coincides with the Big12 choice of WVU that we agreed upon before, Sammi, about 75th.

And WVU and the ACC......."Never!" as one of your heroes(I'm guessing)Bull Connor, used to say back in the day.

Anyway, Sammi, I enjoy reading your posts, much like reading "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

As a partisan WVU fan, though, and I speak for thousands of others, we just aspire to catch up with you guys.

Again, thanks for your enlightened exposures of WVU.

I was never treated as poorly at an away football game as I was at Marshall in 2010. I was even with all my MU cousins and I was called every filthy name and had trash thrown at me as I was walking to the car.......talk about a dangerous environment....I am just glad they stepped in between me and their own fans several times

if that happened you are one in a million that got pay back from some fans. most stories are eerdiot lies based on the fact they have heard so many about their own school, many on video

I didn't treat them that way BUT, if I were to return the way I was treated in "the hole" it wouldn't have been pretty.

At least you weren't pregnant and pulled from a car in Morgantown.

Neither was anybody else. The pregnant Pittsburgh girl who was "assaulted" after that LSU game stepped out of the car on her own and tried to get in between her boyfriend and a WVU fan who were fighting. She slipped in loose gravel and skinned her knee and filed charges.

Enlightened? Yep I get it now why you hilljacks hang on non rival board. The thing I don't buy is that you are capable of being enlightened. Nope, don't think that is possible.

You're making that up and you know it.

Agree. We see letters to the editor all the time from opposing fans after a visit to Huntington. They go on and on about how well they were treated. When Va Tech was here, I had a couple come up to me and say, "WV has the best and worst fans in America". She went on to say how poorly they were always treated in Morgantown. She said she was really surprised how poorly their fans acted when in Blacksburg as well.
