The Senate majority leader’s remarks .... he was acknowledging that Republicans want to make it more difficult to vote.
“A ‘power grab’ to let people vote?” Walter Shaub, a former director of the Office of Government Ethics, noted that “He also says it’s just a holiday for bureaucrats, almost ⅓ of whom are veterans. How about McConnell compromises by moving Veterans Day to the 1st Tuesday in November? What better way to honor veterans than by making it easier for them to vote?”

Of course it is. They do that in WV. Give all the state workers the day off to go vote for Democrats. Meanwhile everybody else goes to work. Who needs a day off to go vote? Now you even have early voting in many places. Nonsense and they don't need to close schools for it either. Ludicrous.

Old trick in the book.

SEEMS THE ONLY PART OF THE CONSTITUTION YOU KNOW ABOUT IS THE MIDDLE CLAUSE OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT. YOU DONT EVEN KNOW THE FIRST AND LAST CLAUSE OF THE ONE YOU CONSTANTLY QUOTE.
YOU CONS LOVE TO PICK AND CHOOSE YOUR CONSTITUTION.

Amendment XV
Section 1.

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Section 2.
The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Think of how terrible it would be to make Election Day a federal holiday. Think of all the bad things that would happen....

They close the schools in WV

Umm no he didn’t. There is plenty of opportunity for people to vote with the onset of early voting, absentee voting and in person voting.

Oh yes he did. When the best excuse you have to offer is "power grab", you got nothing.

Not sure why liberals would want to make this a Federal Holiday. Most liberals don't work, so it would simply give the GOP an advantage.

I thought democrats didn’t work anyway so I’m not sure how it could help them out. Everyday is a holiday.

Instead of November, move the elections to April. Give people the option to vote online when they pay their taxes. For those that don't pay online, you can still go to a polling place like normal.

So its basically like the left screaming RACIST at everything that moves

What's the disadvantage to the U S to making Election Day a federal holiday? See if you can attempt to be reasonable when you answer that question.

Ummm, they use schools as polling places. Dumbass!
no , really? That is stupid for West Virginia to do that. They should not use schools and close the whole thing for voting. That is why I said it is stupid. There is no need to close schools for voting.

Don't do it where i live. use another building.

why close schools for a day? Absolutely wasteful and no need for it.

I think it is a great idea, if just to give importance to voting. Too many people shirk their duty.

I also support a choice of "none of the above" at the polls. If your excuse for not voting is all the choices suck, well here's your chance to put your mark beside that.
They already have that option. You simply leave it blank, you idiot. As for having this as a national holiday, I think it would decrease voter turnout. It would turn into one big ass party the night before, similar to Thanksgiving Eve. Plus, lots of people use the voting excuse to show up late for work, leave early, etc.

another day we pay federal workers holiday pay

how many days a year do they need?

No reason to use churches to vote. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
huggh? They are donated for voting. Kids still go to school and teachers go to work. Not a day missed.

Use a fire dept, community center, town hall, etc. happens in a lot of places. I have not voted in a school since I left WV.

Where does that say a day off?

WHERE IT SAYS SHALL NOT BE ABRIDGED.

Most states do not vote in schools. Go across the border in Ohio they don’t vote in schools. Florida doesn’t vote in schools. No reason schools should be closed to used as voting centers.

Correct, shitferbrains. The other part of NOTA is what happens when NOTA "wins". Scratch the losers and start again. There are too many "lesser of two evils" races.
It's not my fault that socialist are less popular than thugs....down where you live. Maybe you should run yourself.

abridged means curtailed or taken away. Nobody is taking anybody's right to vote away. That doesn't mean a day off work.

WEBSTER DISAGREES WITH YOU. OF COURSE IT MAY HAVE A DIFFERENT MEANING IN RUSSIA.

2 : to shorten in duration or extent Tess wished to abridge her visit as much as possible …— Thomas Hardy
