Meh, F**k it

Arguably cost us the last two games although the defense also had a huge hand in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

A lot of blame to go around here, not just the kicker or defense. Offense can’t put the ball in the end zone inside the 20’s as well. Coaching was not stellar

We score 75% of the time we are in the red zone. 60% of the time it's a TD. 40pts per game avg. Can we improve? Yes. Suggesting we "cant put the ball in the endzone" is silly. Offensively, we are playing and scoring enough to win. Dfense needs to get it together.

Take NCCU out of the picture and look and see what we’ve done.

Agreed...a shit sandwich that the entire team needs to take a bite of !

So here we have a team that came in the game ranked 3rd nationally in Passing yards per game 46th rushing ypg, but our team passing efficiency ranked 45th, our red zone offense ranked outside the top 50. Our QB who is 3rd nationally in passing yards is also ranked tied for 41st in TD,s 53rd in QBR and 114th in INT’s. And you don’t see an issue with 1. Our passing game and 2. Our red zone inefficiency?

Our red zone inefficiency?
Our red zone efficiency actually improves when you remove NCCU from the stat sheet. We score 82% of the time inside the 20yd line when removing NCCU. We dont have a red zone scoring efficiency problem.

There is a lot of blame to go around:
Head Coach- Not knowing when to use timeouts, decision making, and not reading the flow of the game correctly.
Offense- OC not calling plays based on the the flow of the game, and CAN"T SCORE A FKN POINT IN THE 4th!
Defense- Where to start, let just say OUR DB's (Gilmore the exception) are being abused. More could be said, But
Special Teams- Last weeks on-side kick debacle and Shaky FG kicking.
FANS- Can't get half of them to stay for the entire game and the other half never makes into the game cause they want to get DRUNK!

Did I cover it all?

Our QB who is 3rd nationally in passing yards is also ranked tied for 41st in TD,s, 53 in QBR
Happens when you have a running game actually scoring the TDs. A QB who is essentially top 50 in the country the first 4 games.... just terrible. We should have a top 20 QB (says every team's fanbase).

Defense has been gassed due to no offense in the 4th, but they could probably stand to run some more laps.. they seem out of shape.. our pass rush is there and they play like they are tired

Huff disagrees.
Really? You think our coach is so stupid that he does not get the basic fact that this D is out of shape?

I don’t. I understand that he gets it and the question now is can this get fixed? This year, or in the future.

Yelling “all is well” over and over does not make it so.

So Huff is lying when he says his dfense was not gassed last night. That they are conditioned for this style of play?
As has been explained to you, this is coach speak. What do you expect? “Well, yes, we really are fat and out of shape” ?

Coach speak. Or simply wrong.

The proof, as they say, is in the 1-2 v I-A competition pudding.

The defense was out of position from start to finish and constantly confused on what they should be doing. You can have triathletes out there and it wouldn't matter when your DC is calling defensive cushions that make Chris Rippon blush.

A coach cant admit his team is tired, when they are tired? "Coach speak" was your boy Doc Holliday. Huff has been as upfront and honest about this team and it's performances since he started. You're an idiot.

Using primarily a freshman running back with a retooled line. So we basically have a top 50 offense overall after 4 games. The horror!!!

What do you want? 50 or 60pt/ game avg?

Nope, just want more proficiency inside the red zone and our passing attack to produce points. Not just yards

So you would start Zban?

2 times in the last 2 weeks the offense was in a position to completely put the game away and they came up empty.

In the ECU game the 4th and 1 1/2 yds drive where we were at their 20 and we were up 17. We punch it in there and go up 24 no matter how Swiss cheese our defense is we win that game. But instead we throw a 10% chance of completion 20 yd pass to the end zone that didn’t have a chance of being completed. ECU comes back and we go down to defeat.

in yesterday’s game we were up 9 and the defense got ASU to turn the ball over on downs. We had all the momentum and had we drove down and scored a TD it would have been another 4th qtr with a double digit lead. Instead we turned it right back to them on a punt and the rest is history.

But all of that being said it’s still no excuse how poor the defense played the majority of last nights game.

If I am an opposing coach with an average to good passing game, I’m throwing it every down. I’ll either get a completion or a PI/ or hold call. Mark it down

Doc Holliday.

In sports, as in politics, blaming the previous administration is ignorant and unfair.

We are discussing THIS SEASON. 1-2 vs. I-A competition, most probably currently 0-2 vs I-A competition that will win a game this year. Losing 2 games because the defense was inadequate.

Try to live in the present, OK?

It was a pretty easy statement.
Offensively, we are playing and scoring enough to win games. Dfense needs to get it together.

40pts a game is playing well enough that a Dfense able to make stops should be getting it done. Can we score 50 every night? Should we score 60 game regularly? Yes. I would like to see it, but it’s not realistic. Dfense needs to step up.

In case you missed your hypocritical self again….
This is an absurd poll. Short of a Snyder like total meltdown, there is no basis for forming an opinion yet.
Stay in the present Sammy. We are talking about this year. Right??

4th quarters, offense not on the field long enough to allow the D to get a break.. just like the 2nd quarter kick return.. I’ll take a kick return every time but, that didn’t give our D any rest time so app state was able to March the field wearing us down

so our D needs to get in shape (conditioning) or our offense needs to learn a short game and chew up clock...

A lot of blame is our lack of getting first downs late in the game.

You're missing a big part of the puzzle. Marshall scored 30 points against Appy. Seven of those were on special teams, so the offense really was only responsible for 23 points. Another seven points were, at least substantially, due to the defense giving the offense the ball in Appy territory.

Good idea.....

We've failed to score inside the 20 6 times this season. 3 of which were NCCU. Remove NCCU #s and we put the ball in the endzone 62% of the time and scored 81% of the time.

I'm not sure you realize that red zone scoring 81% of the time (after removing the worst performing game) is really bad. Keeping the NCCU game in there, and Marshall goes from "really bad" to "awful."

The numbers you are presenting argue against your point.

So we basically have a top 50 offense overall after 4 games. The horror!!!

This is a bit of a straw man and isn't logical considering what you're trying to disprove. First, "basically a top 50 offense overall" is based on total yards. Marine's argument isn't that Marshall's offense can't move the ball, which is what your "top 50 offense overall" comment is based on. Marine's argument is that Marshall's red zone scoring has been poor, and the numbers you just presented overwhelmingly support Marine's claim.

The commonly used statistic that attempts to rank offenses (total yards) has very little to do with Marine's claim.
