Mirabal

As a coach?

'MARSHALL (2013-17)
Mirabal’s league-leading eight first or second-team All-Conference USA selections on the offensive line from 2013 to 2017 helped pave the way for the Thundering Herd to put together a 44-22 record, three 10-win seasons, a 4-0 record in bowl games, two Conference USA titles and a win in the 2014 Conference USA Championship Game.

Marshall’s offense was among the best in college football during Mirabal’s five seasons. In 2014, the Thundering Herd joined Oregon as the only two programs in the country to rank in the top 12 nationally in scoring offense (3rd), rushing yards (6th) and passing yards (12th). The 2014 offensive line featured a pair of first-team All-Conference USA choices in Chris Jasperse and Clint Horn, as Marshall ranked second nationally in total offense (559.2 ypg), scoring 40-plus points in 11 of 14 games en route to a 13-1 overall mark and a No. 22 final ranking in the coaches poll.

During the 2014 season, Jasperse was on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Awaard watch lists, while Horn was among the elite centers in the country on the Rimington Trophy watch list. After the dominant offensive season by Marshall, Marabal was a finalist for the 2014 Football Scoop Offensive Line Coach of the Year Award.

In 2017, Marshall led Conference USA and ranked fourth in the FBS in sacks allowed with just 11 over 13 games, helping quarterback Chase Lifton throw for over 3,000 yards and extend his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 27, which was the second-longest streak among active FBS quarterbacks at the time.

Including three freshman All-Conference USA team selections, Mirabal had at least one lineman earn league postseason recognition each of his five seasons at Marshall, including two or more honorees four times.'

I happen to think he would be a leading candidate - any asst worth his salt wants to one day be the head guy. + he had a great experience here! At close to 3x his current salary? I think he would be interested....

So Mirabal was here from 2013-2017, when the Herd got "two Conference USA titles". Huh? Doc has been the HERD's head coach since 2010 and has exactly ONE Conference USA championship! Talk about an example of "Fake News"!!!

Ok fine but that bio was pulled from Oregon’s website. So be mad at them.

It still calls into question the credibility and impartiality of the persons argument when they don’t even notice or care to notice the glaring inaccuracies.

Oregon has all the resources in the world regarding their athletics and they make the same mistakes MU and everyone else does.

Allow me to redirect you to the proper area to fix the problem:

Technically i guess they won two championships; 2013 CUSA East Champs and 2014 CUSA Champs

To be correct, in 2014 they also won the East championship, so that would be 2 Division Championships and ONE Conference championship, or 3 "championships" in all. Not the same as "two" Conference championships.

so you guys are saying hire a position coach who can recruit well at a brand name p5 school with no head coaching exp? Thought we tried that already. No Thanks
If Doc knew what he was doing he would already have someone on staff that could take over. My bet at age 63 Doc wants to stay and know Hamrick he will

Agree. If only Doc had someone on staff who was both a P5 coordinator and G5 head coach.

Only then might be know what he is doing.

So the plan is to have Lambert - a guy who will be 56 or 57 when he takes over, a guy whose best finish at Charlotte was 4th place in C-USA East, a guy who wasn't good enough for the no expectations at Charlotte - take over as head coach? If so, the entire campus needs to be set ablaze.

No, I don't think that's the plan.

I believe guys like Adam Fuller, Todd Hartley and Gerard Parker will be higher up on the replacement list than Lambert. I've heard some buzz about Marcus Freeman, too.

Lambert seems like a nice, who likes MU and Huntington; but we need a much younger guy, someone wanting to prove they can be a D1 HC and someone who is a little cocky. Preferably offensive minded. Someone like Jeff Brohm. jmo.

Well, Rifle...we have mostly fans & mods on here that love and worship Doc and Lambert brought Charlotte up to the level of The Herd over the last 4 years...therefore it only makes sense to that group of happy campers that we stay the course with a same-ol’-same-ol’ HC that will keep us in the hunt for a 3rd place finish in the East.

LOL, yea, If Lambert is Doc's guy to hand the program off to them we have problems. Let me be clear. Quality leadership has someone in mind that could take the program over and be successful. I know that hard but its still quality leadership

Easy, Coach Stowers is a huge fan of this lackluster coach.

Hopefully it will be some me like Chris mentioned, although not impressed with Freeman, just yet.

Except how long was Doc around before ever getting a hc offer? Mirabal has moved up very quickly, and not been around 30+ years. I’m not saying I would go hire him, but hard to compare the two resumes.

You’re a WVU guy. Was Rich Rod a good coach with quality leadership?

I guess quality leadership includes having to suspend double-digit players (upwards of 20 in your first two years).
