Mirabal

Back on point: We could do a lot worse than Alex. Having said that, I realize & agree that ideally we recruit a person with successful HBC experience at a lower level that is interested in moving up to FBS. Someone under 40 (sorry QB whisperer, you have aged out!) ....

Except how long was Doc around before ever getting a hc offer? Mirabal has moved up very quickly, and not been around 30+ years. I’m not saying I would go hire him, but hard to compare the two resumes.
not trying to ague with you but how do you think they are different? Doc is 63 and got his first chance at 52. Mirabal is at least 50 now. He started coaching in HS in 93. He followed his HS school friend Mario to FIU in 2007. Why has he never been hired as a coordinator? At least Doc was the Assistant coach at Fl.

I seem to recall Mirabel's O-Line not doing so well at times during his tenure. What the hell are any of you thinking touting him as a good replacement for Holliday? I mean, in the basic sense, just about anyone is an upgrade, but I'd take the QB Whisperer over Mirabel.

For once I agree with you.
MU should go for an FCS HC who, as you said, moves up.
Someone who can win and has a solid staff on hand, give him a bigger and better FBS program in Marshall and see what he does.

We just have to not be terrified that someone is going to leave us. I’d love to be worried that we’re so good our coach is going to leave us.

I’ve said this from the get go. They double their salary, if not more; and work at an established G5 program that can make noise nationally with a good year.

I agree. Also, the HC had shown he can win with what he has...imagine double all the resources and some creativity.
I also, would like the HC to have won a few against the FBS, just to know he can motivate his team to step up and win.
But thats just my opinion.

Careful there GHMY - you’re in danger of being outed as reasonable & thoughtful!

Could App States Coach be an option to eventually replace Doc given he grew up just about an hour from Huntington?

I don’t see it. App has a higher profile than us currently. BUT - getting back home near family might be a hook. How much does he make in Boone?
