New to HerdNation.com this year, I will be bringing you my version of Monday Morning Quarterback. No, I don't mean I'll be dying my hair red like Michael Birdsong and wearing a #11 jersey, but more like covering the good, bad, and ugly of what we saw from the Thundering Herd that weekend.
It's been a long 257 days for Marshall fans since the Herd ran over, around, and through Northern Illinois in the 2014 Boca Raton Bowl, but that time is over and the post Rakeem Cato era is upon us. The 2015 season opened up Sunday against the Purdue Boilermakers and the buzz surrounding this game along with the outcome didn't disappoint. A standing room only crowd of 38,791 (third-largest ever) jammed themselves into Joan C. Edwards Stadium to see head coach Doc Holliday and company take the field. I attended the game (my salt-stained hat is proof) and have watched the game twice on DVR since to try and give you my best breakdown of what impressed me and what I feel we need to improve on...
