Morehead About to Hand #2 to Herd

Ugly loss in the ugliest D-1 city in the U.S.
Radford a close 2nd, but at least Roanoke is nearby.
Can't believe they still play in that dump of an arena. Haven't been there in over 30 years, and it was in terrible shape then.

Hey, its obvious that Morehead believes more in spending money on obtaining a quality coach who can bring in legitimate D 1 players who play within a system. The Herd, on the other hand, well just hire any ole high school coach who will get guys who jack up playground threes any time they feel like it!!!!

Morehead is a small town. Unlike huntington its is not being over run by detroit thugs. Gee what sorry losers. They have been to the big dance

Morehead State took it to Marshall inside, outscoring the Herd, 50-20, on points in the paint. The Eagles made 53.3 percent of their field goal attempts, sank 18 of 25 foul shots and were plus-18 in rebounds.

Pretty well sums things up

and they wanna talk about the woman who wouldtnt let two outside mentally disturbed gays get married. good for her

How many wins to you see on the schedule? JMU is picked 3rd in its league, Akron is picked 1st, WVU, Wyoming and Maryland are delusional level. Most books pick us 10th or so.

Maybe 5? The 3 Directional home games in early December, and a couple of CUSA fellow bottom feeders? Maybe a shot at OU? Maybe Grand Canyon in the consolation in LV? Not much more.

I believe we will end up 9 or 10 in CUSA. That should get us a first round bye.

Last I looked, Eastern Illinois was 0-3, so maybe that'll be our breakout game. Play like we did at Morehead and we won't beat anyone on the road, and games against Eastern Ky. and JMU at home would be doubtful, at best. Very real possibility that we could go into 2016 with one-two wins tops!!

Does anyone know when spring football practice starts???

It appears that Bosnia and WV BB players don;t mesh well together on the floor. MANY FANS WERE CALLING FOR MORE WV KIDS ON THE TEAM. THEY GOT EM AND WE GOT SCREWED. There aren't 2 D 1 BB players annually in WV and guess who gets them if they want em WVU. Hiring a 68 year old high schol coach never made sense, even his last name was Dantoni!

I love DD's style of play, he just needs to bring in some faster guys that can press and run the court better, and for God's sake, get some shooters.

I know he was a pain in the rear end when he was here but Kareem Canty is averaging almost 20 ppg at Auburn this year.

Chris Thomas is scoring 13/game at Texas Southern.

Kelvin Amayo is a significant contributor at Iona.

Jaylen Brantley is getting run as Melo Trimble's back-up at Maryland.

That's a ton of talent which has left the program since Dan took over. I've yet to see him replace any of it sans getting James Kelly for a year.

got to give him time fellas to buid a team. Doc didn't win a title in year 2 either and had more to work with IMO

Ohio Herd if this is what Coach D is going to try to win with then we are in for lots of disappointments. Not really sure what he is trying to do but with what he currently has - and many are going to be with us for several years, I for one do not think the future is bright and the basketball program is heading further south. Just my opinion.

DD really only had 1 year to recruit. The first year, he was hired so late in the process that its hard to even count that.

As for the loss, I'm not OK with it because of the lack of effort and intensity. Losing the TN game sucked, but I was not only OK with it, I was excited about our team after that game. Now, it appears possible we get a Jekyll and Hyde team. Or was one of these first 2 games an anomaly? If so, I hope the team that played TN is the real team.

Biggest problem I see is that no one is attempting to attack the basket. Have to attack the basket, if nothing is there kick it to the next man and repeat. Our guys just stand around too much. Against Morehead we had 4-5 guys standing around the 3 point line just passing the ball around the arc until someone fired up a contested 3. This is not any type of style/brand of basketball.

Pretty disappointed right now, but its early in the season and only year 2. First year where DD had a full off-season with the guys.

Other good news, a lot of the CUSA teams suck. So we will get some wins.

Looked like a bad pick-up game at the community playground. This team has a country mile and a half to go to be mediocre. Let's not give up on them too early.

I still believe that the team will get better as the season progresses but it will take time to change the culture and teach these players (most of whom have never played a full 40 minute game with the focus required at this level) how to win.

I don'the think it's realistic for Danny to attract top flight talent to Marshall unless he starts going after Props and kids with baggage.

At the level he's recruited so far, it will take him 4-5 years to field a CUSA team capable of challenging for the league crown.

Yes, but we barely draw over 5,000 a game now, about 55% of capacity of the CAM. If it takes 4-5 years to get a competitive team in a weak, 1 bid annually to the big dance conference, Hamrick might as well schedule all home games in the Huntington Civic Center, where about 3000 looks like a "throng", because we won't be drawing but 2,000-3,000 a night.
